This Week is 'National Volunteering Week' (Tuesday 2nd June) - Celebrating and recognising the commitment of all our volunteers. We want to say THANK YOU to our volunteers and we hope you will do the same - Why not encourage your child to do one or more of the following:

1. Design or buy a thank you card for your child to give to their class teacher this week after their swimming lesson !
2. Encourage your child to go back to their swim teacher and say 'thank you for teaching me' !
3. Say thank you to our volunteers on the front desk as you leave after your swimming lesson !
4. Think of another way to say thank you to one of our volunteers !

Simple acts like these can go a long way to encourage a volunteer in everything they do. Do LIKE this post to say thank you but remember liking a facebook post is the very least you can all do !

As being reported on the news, this week during the heatwave, tragically several young lives have already been lost in water-related incidents - devastating families, friends and local communities.

With the hot weather expected to continue over the next few days (and the main summer months ahead), parents, carers and young people are being urged to understand the dangers of inland waterways.

Even when the air temperature feels very warm, open water can remain dangerously cold. Cold water shock can affect anyone within seconds, causing breathing difficulties, panic and loss of muscle control - even for strong swimmers.

Parents and carers are being urged to speak to children and teenagers about the dangers of cooling off in rivers, reservoirs, lakes, etc.

♻️ Please help us share this message. If we work together, we can use our combined followers to reach more people with this important, potentially lifesaving advice and help prevent further tragedies.

Happy Saturday! ☀️

With temperatures hitting up to 33°C in some parts of the UK, enjoy the sunshine but take care, stay hydrated, and keep an eye out for the signs of heat exhaustion.

If you’re near water this weekend, always follow the Water Safety Code.

We know the seasoned outdoor swimmers are already three steps ahead and probably checking tide times, water quality and wind direction before breakfast… so take this as a friendly reminder rather than a lecture. 😉
