| Refugee Week 💚

We’re resharing Joyce and Tim’s inspiring story of fostering an unaccompanied young person seeking safety in the UK.

From a nervous first arrival with little English, they supported her to thrive; building confidence, independence and a future. Now, they’ve gone on to welcome their second young person, continuing to change lives through fostering.

“Fostering an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child… is incredibly rewarding.”

Some children and young people arrive in the UK with no one to care for them.

Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children are under 18 and alone when they arrive.

They are taken into care, but there aren’t enough foster carers available.

Foster carers play a key role in providing stability, guidance and day-to-day support while young people adjust to life in the UK.

You don’t need previous experience, just the willingness to provide a safe and supportive home.

Refugee Week is here.

This week recognises the resilience and courage of people seeking safety, including children who arrive in the UK alone.

Unaccompanied children come without parents or family support and need care, stability and a safe place to live.

It’s an opportunity to reflect, raise awareness and consider how we can support those rebuilding their lives.

Representation matters. 🌈

For LGBTQ+ young people in care, having a home where they feel seen, accepted and understood can be life-changing.

Research shows that foster carers play a vital role in providing acceptance, stability and sensitivity for LGBTQ+ young people navigating identity and stigma.

A diverse fostering community helps every child feel they belong.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating Fostering with Pride. 🌈

Fostering is for people from all walks of life – including LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. What matters isn’t who you are, but the love, stability and support you can offer a child.

There are thousands of children across the UK who need safe, nurturing homes and we need more people like you to step forward.

✨ Let’s challenge outdated perceptions of who can foster
✨ Let’s celebrate diverse families
✨ Let’s build a more inclusive future for children
