Today I was asked “are you quite relaxed around your training and nutrition? Because when I first met you, you were really on it”.
And my answer is this…
Yes. I am really relaxed around my training and nutrition at the moment, more than I’ve ever been. One thing I’ve learnt is that life has its seasons and sometimes you can’t give everything your 100%. The reason I am comfortable being so relaxed at the moment is because I spent years putting the foundations in place. I’m not currently at my leanest nor my strongest but I am able to maintain a physique I’m okay with. At this stage in my life I’m putting more effort into my life outside of work and training. I’m learning to manage my mental health and take time off with no pressure. My depression got quite bad a couple of years ago and I’m learning to manage it, and that’s been my priority for a while now. At the end of the day eating well and training are my foundations and super important for my physical and mental health but I’m not super strict or regimented at the moment but I’m sure I will be again at certain points in my life, and I look forward to that. Knowing that gives me peace and this is something I coach my clients through. Life has its moments but as long as you have your foundations in place, you’ll do well to get through it.
