This evening, Alan one of our members took a gamble on a break in the weather and managed to get an hour playing in the sun. One of the many benefits of our all weather green.

Today, we played our fourth friendly of the season at Richmond which we lost 57 to 45. The result was immaterial, although we are getting better, as both clubs had such a good day out. The weather being relatively cool was an added bonus. The game was played in an exceptionally friendly manner and Richmond were very welcoming and accommodating of us.
Afterwards we were treated to a very generous buffet which was greatly appreciated by all. We even managed to win some of the raffle prizes! Thank you all at Richmond and we hope this can become a regular home and away event.

Yarm Bowling Club Charity Bowl.

Why not join us for an afternoon of fun, friendly competition and community spirit at Yarm Bowling Club’s Charity Bowl on Sunday 28th June at 1:00pm.

Everyone is welcome, you don’t need to be a member to take part. Whether you’ve played bowls for years or have never picked up a bowl before, this is a fantastic opportunity to give it a try while supporting a wonderful local cause.

All we ask is that you wear flat soled shoes on the bowling green.

Most importantly, all profits from the day will be donated to Friends of True Lovers Walk, helping to support the ongoing work they do within our local community.

Bring your friends, family and neighbours along for what promises to be a great afternoon. We’d love to see as many people there as possible and together make a real difference for a worthy local cause.

Our third friendly of the season was at Northallerton Bowling Club on 23rd April. Score wise not our best, losing 27-76, but we can assure you the score does not reflect how well we actually played.

We won (Jim Pearce, Joss Connor, Nelson Sianchuk and David Scarr) one of the four rinks 16-14 against a team that included more than one county player. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on a warm sunny evening. The hospitality from Northallerton was first class, with a range of pizzas delivered as part of an after match gathering in the clubhouse. Needless to say a few drinks were also consumed. They asked for a return match this September, which we readily agreed to.

On a lovely sunny day we played our second friendly of the season, at home against Leyburn. There were 32 players in total and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the match, which we lost 69 - 84. This was against an experienced team who play in two Yorkshire leagues, so well done to everyone.
The visitors were very complimentary about the green with most of them not having played on an outdoor artificial surface before and would certainly play again on it. They enjoyed our hospitality of tea, coffee and sandwiches afterwards - many thanks to Jane Gowdy, Nicola Dursley and Sue Small for taking care of everyone. We will be organising a return match at Leyburn later in the season.

Yorkshire Bowling Association is back at Yarm BC for the second year this Sunday. It’s a practise and team selection for the county teams.
They meet at 9am and start playing around 10am.
Should be great to see these county players on our green

Here is the final league table for the winter season. Many thanks to everyone for turning out every week and overall I think the weather has been very kind to us.

Congratulations again to David Small and Mick Thorpe, for winning all ten games, enjoy your trophy!.

We had beautiful weather enjoyed by 14 members today at our first Tuesday morning club roll up for the summer season. This is played every Tuesday morning with a 10am draw for players/rinks, played over 15 ends and takes around 2 hours. You do not need to commit to every week - just join in when you want to! It is open to all members of any ability and is a great way to meet other members and for new players to learn the basics in a fun/friendly way. We will also be adding a Monday evening roll up in a few weeks once the evenings are a bit longer, again open to all members to join in and gives those who can’t play during the day to play a roll up game. More information to follow as to when this will commence.
