Janu Sirsasana, head to knee, or more accurately, ego to floor.
Sutra 1.15 from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali talks about Vairagya, non-attachment. Not the dramatic, renounce everything kind. Just the quiet practice of loosening your grip on how things are supposed to go. And the Bhagavad Gita backs it up show up, do the thing, release the outcome.
Forward folds are a masterclass in this. You cannot force your way deeper. The harder you push, the more the body resists. the moment you stop negotiating with it and just...let go, something shifts. Not always dramatically. sometimes just a millimetre but it shifts.
Turns out that works off the mat too. The situation you're white knuckling or the conversation you keep rehearsing. Maybe it's the outcome you've decided has to look a certain way. Surrender isn't giving up. It's just finally stopping the argument with what is.
Loosen the grip...wait....something shifts.
