🎾🥵 DURHAM & CLEVELAND TENNIS HEATWAVE UPDATE 🥵🎾
Following today’s scorching temperatures, Durham & Cleveland Tennis is considering introducing official World Cup-style hydration breaks.
Not because of player welfare…
Because we’ve got members arriving with:
* 3 litres of water
* 2 electrolyte drinks
* 1 cooling towel
* And the same amount of equipment you’d take on an expedition to Everest.
Current court conditions:
☀️ Surface: Lava
☀️ Tennis balls: Medium rare
☀️ Grip: Slippery when sweating
☀️ Drop shots chased: 0
The World Cup has hydration breaks every 30 minutes.
Our players are requesting them every change of ends, every odd game, and whenever a cloud appears.
We’ve also had requests for:
✅ Ice baths between sets
✅ Air-conditioned racket bags
✅ A roof over the North East
✅ Permission to play doubles from the shade
Remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and take regular breaks.
And if you hear someone say:
“It’s not that hot…”
Check on them immediately. They may already be delirious.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone. After all, by next week we’ll be back to complaining that summer only lasted three days.
