Sea Womble sets off at 1545 today Sun 16 Aug 26, on leg 2 of the east coast swim for SwimTayka.

As the relay team Lowtiders sets of from Dover for the English Channel relay attempt. All the best to them.

Happy Lifeguard Appreciation Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible RNLI lifeguards we’re proud to work alongside, recognising their incredible work to help keep people safe on our beaches.

RNLI lifeguards have been keeping our beaches safer since 2001. In 2025 RNLI lifeguards in the South East of England saved 16 lives, responding to 2,567 incidents and assisting 2,843 people.

In fact, around 95% of their work is preventative. In the South East alone, RNLI lifeguards have reached one million school children through the RNLI’s Water Smart education sessions, helping to teach children how to stay safe around water.

A huge thank you to all our local lifeguards across Brighton and West Sussex for everything you do. 👏

If you’re visiting the coast this summer, choose a lifeguarded beach and swim between the red and yellow flags.

It seems simple. In the panic you'll forget. Train like the military. Repetition.
Float to live every time you swim. Then it will be second nature when you need it.
