It is a sad to report the passing of a true club β€œlegend”Alun Parry, who recently passed away.
Alun an excellent off spin bowler and a capable batsman with a great pair of hands (particularly off his own bowling).
He captained the club on multiple occasions and many of his summer days were spent up at the field in his role as groundsman.
He served both ours and the welfare institute committees for many years and eventually becoming Llay Miners Welfare Institute General manager until his retirement in 2010.

Alun was an active member of Denbighshire County Cricket Club and managed the county colts team for several seasons, playing a prominent role in taking that exciting U19’s squad on successful tour to Yorkshire.
He was also on the board of Welsh cricket and would follow the national team all over the county both supporting and fundraising with his wife Jen.
Finally, along with Jen and his son John(Paz) they would follow and support the cricketing progress of the latest generation of Parry cricketers Tom and Jack.
Alun continued to hold charity nights at the Llay Miners Welfare Institute raising thousands of pounds for Liverpool CHICS charity.

I am sure many of you can add to Alun’s long list of achievements, feel free to add your stories, comments and tributes.
The village of Llay and Welsh cricket community have lost a great servant.

We send our love and support to wife Jen, son Paz, daughter in law Linda, grandsons Tom and Jack.

RIP ALUN
