Wow what a weekend! It was fantastic to take 16 youth members over to Sins in Switzerland to compete in this European competition. We met lots of new people and had a fantastic experience. Our members pulled in Felton 1, 2 & as Beaminster as well as some pulling with international clubs Belgium, Sweden and Switzerland
Very proud with placing 16,21 & 31 out of 44 strong teams from all over Europe and Canada

GENSB 2026

Over the weekend the annual GENSB junior club international tournament took place in Sins, Switzerland. 35 young pullers from England travelled to the event forming three teams - Felton Eccles 1 and 2 and Beaminster. Their final rankings are shown on the image out of 44 teams. Feltoh 2 reached the knock out phase of the competition to acheive a top 16 position. Well dine to everyone took part and thanks to all of the coaches and volunteers for making the trip possible.

What is GENSB?

GENSB is an international youth tug of war tournament that brings together junior clubs from across Europe each year, with the shared aim of introducing young people to the sport at international level and on a low budget. Competition follows TWIF (Tug of War International Federation) rules, with a few GENSB-specific adjustments: pullers must be between 12 and 18 years old inclusive, mixed teams are permitted, teams can have between 7 and 10 pullers, and the weight class is capped at 560kg with a bonus allowance of 10kg per female puller up to a total weight limit of 600kg.

The tournament was founded in 1998 to bring young people together internationally and prepare them for the sport of tug of war, and is traditionally held on the last Saturday of August each year.

Today we pull in this international competition- you wonโ€™t see our name on the list because we have linked up with Felton Eccles youth tow and some other young clubs to enter 3 teams. Itโ€™s going to be hard but memories will definitely be made. We are pleased to catch up with our other British clubs - hay-on-eye for wales and Ayreshire for Scotland!

This weekend, delegation of 35 young athletes from a number of clubs across England will be taking to the rope at the GENSB junior international tug of war tournament โ€” one of the biggest dates on the European junior tug of war calendar.
