“I’m so pleased I joined. It really was the best decision.”

We LOVE hearing this.

Sally describes Yes You Can as supportive, welcoming and inclusive, but there’s another little part of her review that really matters to us:

“The group sessions are tailored to individual progress and goals.”

Because being in a group doesn’t mean everyone has to be at the same level.

Different abilities.
Different starting points.
Different goals.
Different bodies.

You might be lifting something completely different to the person next to you and that’s absolutely fine.

The important bit is that YOU are progressing.

And along the way you get all the good stuff that comes from training together too. The encouragement, the laughs, the friendships and having people around you who notice how far you’ve come.

Thank you Sally for such lovely words.

We’re pretty pleased you decided to join us too.

Every gym has them… which one are YOU?

The one who arrives 15 minutes early.

The one flying through the door with 30 seconds to spare.

The one who comes to train but somehow spends half the session chatting.

The one who knows EVERYBODY.

The one who says, “I’m taking it easy today” and then proceeds to lift heavier than last week.

The one who loses count of their reps every single set.

The one who needs their headphones in and doesn’t want to speak to a soul.

And, of course, the one who’s already thinking about the coffee afterwards

We’ve definitely got a few of each at Yes You Can!

So come on…

Which gym personality are you?

Or even better, tag a gym buddy and tell us which one THEY are

What does a “gym person” even look like?

Matching gym set?

Fancy trainers?

Perfect hair?

Absolutely not.

Some of us arrive looking like we’ve got our lives together.

Some of us arrive in an old T-shirt, leggings we’ve owned for six years and hair that’s been scraped into whatever we can manage

Nobody cares.

You don’t need the right clothes.

You don’t need to already be fit.

You don’t need to know what every machine does.

And you definitely don’t need to look like the people you see on Instagram.

Come as you are.

Get sweaty.

Get stronger.

Have a laugh.

That sounds much more like a Yes You Can gym person to us

Friday 12.30 and the CORE was definitely working!

Core Foundations with this brilliant bunch and they absolutely smashed it!

Controlled movements, good technique and plenty of that lovely little shake that tells you your muscles are WORKING

Because training your core is about so much more than chasing abs.

A strong core helps support your everyday movement, your balance, your posture and the other exercises you do in the gym.

And judging by these faces, they still managed to have a laugh while feeling the burn!

Brilliant work ladies

Core Foundations. Friday 12.30pm.

Come and find out just how long 30 seconds can feel

Friday morning. 9.30am. Women’s Weights. And this lot were LEGENDS!

A room full of women showing up and putting the work in.

Getting stronger.

Lifting heavier.

Improving technique.

Building confidence.

And, of course, having plenty of laughs while they’re doing it

No competing with the person next to you. No worrying about what anyone else is lifting.

Just a group of women working on becoming stronger versions of themselves and cheering each other on along the way.

What a class. What a bunch.

Strong women getting stronger. That’s what we LOVE to see.

UNWRITTEN GYM RULE #19

The last rep is NEVER actually the last rep.

Coach: “Last one!”

You do it.

Coach: “Go on, one more…”

You do that.

Coach: “You’ve got another.”

At this point, you realise “last one” is not a number. It’s a motivational technique.

Never trust a coach who starts counting down.

“I walked in with a slipped disc…”

And now Tania is doing sit ups and working towards her first pull up!

This is exactly what progress can look like.

It doesn’t always have to be about weight lost, inches lost or what the scales say.

Sometimes it’s being able to do something your body simply couldn’t do before.

Tania has kept showing up, getting stronger and working at things little by little.

She’s joined classes, listened, learned, adapted when she’s needed to and now she’s already a quarter of the way towards one of her big goals…

A pull up!

And you KNOW we’re going to be making a massive fuss when that first one happens.

Tania also said:

“I wouldn’t be where I am now without their support.”

But we can give all the support and encouragement in the world. Tania is the one who keeps turning up and doing the work.

We’re bloody proud of you, Tania.

Now… about that pull up.

That weight you warm up with now might once have been your HEAVY weight.

We’re very good at looking at what we can’t do yet.

The next weight.

The next PB.

The exercise we still struggle with.

But every now and then, look backwards.

Maybe you started with the 4kg dumbbells and now you’re reaching for the 8s.

Maybe you couldn’t do a full squat.

Maybe five minutes on the treadmill felt like enough.

Maybe you were nervous just walking through the gym doors on your own.

And now?

Things that once felt difficult have become completely normal.

Progress can happen so gradually that sometimes you don’t even notice it.

So today, give yourself a little bit of credit.

Think back to when you started.

What can you do NOW that you couldn’t do then?

Women’s Weights last night and HELL… these women LIFTED!

What a session!

Heavy weights were being picked up, everyone was pushing themselves and there were plenty of laughs in between sets.

Exactly how we like it

And a MASSIVE welcome to Gemma who joined us for her very first Women’s Weights session last night.

No hanging back.

She got stuck straight in, gave everything a go and absolutely smashed it!

Well done ladies. Strong, sweaty and smiling at the end… just about

Women’s Weights at Yes You Can.

Come to lift.

Stay for the laughs.

YESSSSSS! Our new Spin class officially took off yesterday… and this lot were ON FIRE!

The music was up.

The legs were moving.

The sweat was definitely happening

And this brilliant bunch absolutely smashed their first session!

Spin is such a great way to get your heart rate up, build your fitness and challenge those legs, with YOU in control of your own resistance throughout.

So whether you’re a seasoned spinner or you’ve never sat on a spin bike before, you can work at your own level.

Great tunes, great energy and an awesome bunch to kick off our new class!
