Learning of the passing of Coach Vincent Whitehead has truly stopped me in my tracks.
Coach Whitehead was my high school basketball coach, but what he gave me went far beyond basketball. He forged lessons in discipline, accountability, resilience, and self-belief that I carry with me to this day. The impact he had on my life didn’t fade with time—it became part of who I am.
We hadn’t been close for decades, yet this news hits hard. That’s the mark of a truly great coach and mentor: someone whose influence never expires, whose voice still echoes in moments of challenge and reflection.
I am deeply grateful for the role he played in shaping the person I became. My love, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family, former players, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing this great man. Rest in peace, Coach. Your legacy lives on in all of us.
