We've had a fabulous time in the pool for the past few weeks. All our swimmers have had many interactive experiences of swimming through waves🌊 & under boats⛵️, FLOAT to live, shout & signal for help, water rescues and growing their understanding of open water & surrounding hazards such as how to spot danger.

They've all grown in confidence, stamina and have developed belief and quick reactions to difficult situations building their skills and knowledge.

This stuff can't just be taught, it has to be really experienced and repeated in fun different ways to really sink in.

Water safety, survival & Rookie lifesaving is a huge part of the curriculum at Penguins. This knowledge could save someones life!

It's Drowning Prevention Week!

Stop and Think, Stay Together, Float, Call

We've been practising water safety scenarios and creating wave machines in the pool at Penguins to make our sessions interactive and realistic for the children.

If you do anything, watch this simple video with your child, it illustrates nicely what to do if you see someone in difficulty in the water, or you get in to trouble yourself.

Do you and your child really understand the ? 🌊

We spend four consecutive sessions educating all our swimmers with real experiences— of every age and ability — on what they would do if they got into difficulty in open water.

As part of this, our swimmers wear clothes in the pool to understand first-hand what it feels like to move and stay safe in water whilst fully clothed — because accidents don't happen in swimsuits with swimming goggles on!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Hannah is now a fully qualified swimming teacher!

Hannah's journey with us is one we're incredibly proud of. She started out as a little Penguin 🐧 and through sheer determination, consistency, and — most importantly — the most awesome attitude, she progressed through every swim level all the way to our squads, where she was a valued member for many years.
From there, Hannah completed her Aquatic Helper training and assisting us with the Little Penguins — the very programme where her own journey began. She then went on to achieve her National Pool Lifeguard qualification, and with all that experience behind her, she has absolutely smashed her teaching course! 🏊‍♀️

Hannah, we couldn't be more proud to have watched you grow into the confident, developing teacher you are today. Another proud part of the Penguins history! 🌟

Wouldn't it be nice if your older child, or young teen did more exercise?

Our 1-hour squad sessions are for swimmers who are non-competitive, enjoy swimming and want to stay, or keep fit.

We have sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday eves and Sunday afternoons. They only need to come once a week to feel the benefit, meet some new friends and learn some new skills.
