Another fantastic week of our 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 complete! 🐸💙

This week we’ve been at the brilliant Windlesham House School, where our swimmers have spent five days building confidence, developing their technique and, most importantly, enjoying lots more time in the water.

We’ve seen some amazing progress throughout the week:

💙 Children overcoming fears and growing in confidence
🏊 Swimmers making huge improvements to their strokes and technique
⭐ New skills being mastered
🐸 And plenty of those brilliant breakthrough moments that come from swimming every day!

We’re incredibly excited to finally share our 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐁𝐂 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 broadcast yesterday evening!

The BBC joined us at Windlesham House School to look at the growing number of children leaving primary school without achieving the minimum swimming and water-safety standards — and, importantly, what we can do locally to help change that.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work of Aquatic 2012 CIC - Sussex, Russell’s Swim School and Windlesham House School, and particularly our 𝐓𝐨𝐩-𝐔𝐩 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, which gives local primary school children additional swimming opportunities when they are not yet meeting the National Curriculum swimming requirements.

But this is about more than learning to swim 25 metres.

We want to make swimming 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞, increase 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and give children exciting reasons to 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 with 𝐚𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 — from learn-to-swim and water safety through to water polo, swimming events and other aquatic opportunities.

💚 A huge thank you to Windlesham House School for continuing to support these initiatives and provide access to their fantastic facilities.

Swimming teachers launch scheme as more children miss key water safety skills.

📺 Something exciting is coming… 👀🏊‍♂️

We had some very special visitors at Windlesham House School pool this morning as BBC News joined us for some filming! 🎥

Russell and Jasmine spoke to the BBC about the growing UK swimming crisis, including the latest shocking statistics showing how many children are finishing school unable to swim. 💔🏊‍♀️

We also discussed the importance of initiatives like the Aquatic 2012 Top Up Swimming programme, helping to bridge the gap in school swimming and give children the extra support they need to become confident, capable swimmers. 🏊‍♂️✨

Alongside this, we’re proud to continue our ongoing collaboration with Windlesham House School, working together to strengthen swimming provision and ensure more children have access to high-quality aquatic education. 💙

It was a powerful morning with our swimmers, highlighting the importance of getting more children in the water, building confidence early, and ensuring every child has the chance to be safe and confident in and around water.

What a fantastic start we’ve had to our Summer Intensives 2026! 💙

We’ve now completed our first two courses of the summer, and it’s been brilliant to see so many children enjoying their swimming and making some fantastic progress.
