Match Summary
The Forty Club East Midlands District vs Nevill Holt CC – 3rd May 2026
At Nevill Holt, the East Midlands side found themselves in need of reinforcements—and the Sultan family answered the call. Manawar Sultan brought in his three sons, aged 12, 13, and 15, all proudly representing the Forty Club together in a memorable occasion.
Batting first, The Forty Club East Midlands District posted 179/9 in 40 overs, with skipper Niazi once again leading from the front. He anchored the innings superbly with a composed 75, including 11 fours and 2 sixes on a tricky pitch. Early support came from H Sultan (13 year old), who contributed an impressive 30, before a middle-order wobble threatened progress. Niazi then combined with M Tariq to produce a vital 72-run partnership for the sixth wicket, rebuilding the innings and guiding the side to a competitive total.
In reply, Nevill Holt CC never gained momentum and were restricted to 106/9 in their 40 overs.
The highlight of the match was a remarkable performance from 12-year-old A Sultan, who produced an outstanding spell of 5/24, claiming his first five-wicket haul in competitive cricket. In doing so, he became the youngest player in the club’s history to achieve the feat, surpassing the previous record held by Oliver Curtis, who took 5/49 at the age of 14.
A Sultan was well supported by O Qayyum, whose exceptional control yielded figures of 8 overs, 5 maidens, 5 runs, and 2 wickets, maintaining relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Result: The Forty Club East Midlands District won convincingly by 73 runs.
