home from a rainy… sunny… warm… cold… Bicton August Show✨

(Yes I mean rain, I have proof, I was wearing a coat!)

The Main Man - Berlin AZ - where do I begin. Jumped his socks off in the main ring for an unlucky rail both days. Didn’t fancy the other grass ring and said no thanks not today… but he’s the king and nearly 20… yes 20!! And we’ve been partnered now for 5 wonderful seasons, so he does what he likes at this point. Pulled it out the bag when it mattered finished 11th in the GP yesterday afternoon. Every day behind those ears is a blessing🫶

Golden Boy - Greenvale De Legende - classy (and sassy if the bucks in the warm up Friday were anything to go by…) jumped incredible all weekend. A similar show to Berlin but the golden boy would never say no. 1 rail Friday, 1 yesterday keeping him out the jump off in his GP. Really feel like we are knocking on the door now and his potential and confidence grows in every round. Watch this space I say🤞

Oreo A - a testing child this weekend for Felix. He’s still very much a baby brained 7yo and just went a touch green having had a small ring break since June. Jumped lovely on Friday in the 105 but after a bit of a wobble Saturday, I pinched back the reins for a spin round the small GP yesterday. 2 down, but I’ve not actually sat on him since April. So I’m chuffed. Head down, bang the boys heads together and away we go again.

So, no big fancy ribbons or hefty prize money but an OAP showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon and two low milage gangly 7yo’s trying their very best, proving yet again with young horses, it’s not a race and it’ll all come together with work, rounds, patience and a whole lot of love (which my boys very much are)❤️

So where do we go next?🤔

I’ve been keeping a secret🤫

So we all recognise this gorgeous face as he’s blessed my life (and your feeds) for 5 wonderful years now… but he’s been a little awol this past year…

In 2025, my little firecracker Derek sustained a very minor check ligament injury. Rest and rehab but he was never quite right despite all his scans coming back almost perfect after a period of rest. We did everything by the book… but still no answers.

After 12 months and xraying almost his whole body, thermal imaging and 2 vets later nothing was standing out… but we finally we were pinpointing when the lameness was most prominent and found what appeared to be a minor ni**le that perhaps the sensitive sally was struggling with. So before we jumped in treating anything we set a plan… huge management change, back into light work for 6 weeks and see what happens…

I can proudly say today is week 7 and my boy is sound, happy and ready to increase his work load🙏

So what did we do? Derek is a serial box walker, he likely runs a marathon a day and is consistently on the same rein. Predominantly showing lame when first going out for the day, first transitions and first movements. For the past 6 weeks, he has lived out 18-19hrs a day, coming in only for some dinner and a ride and what a difference in my happy, chilled out dude (yes I used the words chilled)🤪

So the secrets out, the boy is back in town and I’m ready to bring you on his journey of hopefully getting back in the ring in 2027 and the challenges we are yet to face. We have everything crossed for a horse we love so dearly🤞

What a weekend for some of the lovely people I have the pleasure to coach👏

🐎 A first competitive 85cm round, stepping up confidently from 70/80 out show jumping
🐎 A placing at Solihull for the Cotswold Cup Event
🐎 A junior rider finding her feet over her first few bigger fences at home ready to pop a course together in our next session

Having competed across an array of disciplines myself, produced a large number of horses from unbroken youngsters through to competitive athletes and experienced the highs, lows and confidence knocks that inevitably come with riding, I understand that every horse and rider partnership is unique.

That first hand experience allows me to coach with empathy, patience and a practical approach, helping riders build confidence, develop their skills and achieve their goals, whatever stage they’re at in their journey🐴

I choose to work with a limited number of riders at any one time, allowing me to provide each client with the individual attention, ongoing support and tailored coaching they deserve. My aim is to build a strong working partnership, ensuring I’m available to support you through every stage of your journey as we work together towards your goals🏅

1 month of Princess Paris🧡

✅ first time wearing a rug
✅ first time in tack
✅ first lunges
✅ first sit on
✅ dentist
✅ toe trims
✅ saddle fitting

It’s been a busy month for P but she has taken it all in her stride. I forgot how clever mares are during the breaking process than the boys. I think it took about 6 months to teach Rio how to walk in a circle let alone being able to walk, trot and canter in 3 weeks✨

Little break due to the heat and back to it in the aim to get hacking💪

Thank you to the team of professionals we use for keeping my horses on the road and starting this one off on the right foot🙏

Can we also just take a minute to realise that a month ago we were in puffy coats and now it’s too hot to function🥵

June Mixed🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What a show! Over the moon with my boys (& Felix and Rio)🫶

BERLIN AZ - back consistently at 120 for the first time in a few years and he is jumping!! Day 1, I saw a bit of a long shot in the jump off section, which at a lower height would have been no issue, a represent and carried on jumping insane. Day 2, foot perfect double clear to finish in 13th. Today, the meaty Grand Prix… 1 rub early on and our nemesis the tray caught his eye to end us on 8 jumping faults. But 1 pole all weekend and 2 little mistakes… I will take all day long🙏

GREENVALE DE LEGENDE - came out the gates on flying form for a foot perfect double clear for 9th in the Newcomers. Day 2, we were a touch wild being in the main ring which meant today we were a touch sleepy for our Grand Prix. His biggest tracks, new to his height and showing some class coming through. Proud!!✨

OREO A - Felix rode amazingly all weekend, Rio jumped amazingly all weekend. Stepped up to their first 105 for 4flts. Huge accomplishments in such a short space of time with a tricky horse and Felix getting back into riding after 20 years off… big things to come🤪

Massive thank you to Emily, Millie & Dani for the team effort keeping the rest of the crew at home taken care of so we can come out and do what we love to do🐴

Head down, eyes onto the next… maybe a miss orange will be joining us before the end of the summer👀🧡

Little run out to Stourport, our new local yesterday for my boys in prep for our next big show…

They did not disappoint✨

GREENVALE DE LEGENDE - super classy for 1 down in the 105. Really finding his feet now, such a good feeling from him.

BERLIN AZ - foot perfect double clear to take the WIN as the only clear in the 110. He is just on fire at the moment.
