Health update ! I do apologise for the prolonged suspension of classes. I am still unsure when I will be able to return to teaching, but wish you all a very merry midwinter ###

Hi everyone - apologies for my continued absence - it has been a year of injuries - ankle, followed by broken toe and now a torn intercostal muscle. I hope to see you all before Xmas at least !

Hi everyone. Although i can now walk short distances without pain, i have decided to pause classes until the autumn, to work on building up my walking and hopefully returning to dancing. In the meantime, i am off to France to volunteer at a refugee centre, where i can 'potter' but still be useful, as i am going stir crazy here at home ! (Just in case you see pics of me abroad and think im malingering !) I will update you in a few months and apologise for having to take such a lengthy break from our classes ######

Hi everyone, regretfully i am going to pause classes for a few weeks due to an ankle injury that, although dancing is far less painful than plain walking, is costing me a fortune in physio ! I feel that a complete break from all but gentle 'pottering' in the garden is needed, as so far it has been two golpes forward and one back ! I hope to be fully recovered soon and will put some tutorials on here to keep you busy in the meantime ! Gracias.

And here is a gorgeous example of arm position for tientos - being able to look in front of and 'under' the arms like this comes from being able to open the front of the shoulder joint, lift the rib cage and slide the shoulder blades down the back. Remember, its the arms which move back, not the head which moves forward ! Its not a 'quick fix' so practice little and often, warm up with plenty of backward shoulder rolls, be kind to yourselves, and dont forget to breathe !

Hola todos ! Here is a (borrowed !) tutorial showing the triplets step we need to practice for our up and coming tientos choreography. We probably wont put in any rolls but the more advanced among you can try these for fun, but make sure you can do the plain triplet step at both speeds on both the right and left first ! Enjoy ! (oh and do make sure you practice on a SPRUNG surface ie. wooden floorboards or your wooden practice board either fitted with bearers OR laid on a thick rug/folded yoga mat/blanket etc)

Posting this for our new beginners who are starting this week. No pressure to watch/do, but it will be helpful during your first few weeks and compliments what i will be teaching in class, although because we are learning Tientos Tangos, there will be lots of much slower sections, so dont worry if you find this a bit fast ! It will just help you understand the counting and palmas pattern, plus get those wrists limbered up for lots of slow expressive Tientos braceo. Mainly, enjoy !
