Shotstopper Sawyer puts pen to paper

Highly rated young goalkeeper Josh Sawyer is set to sign for Royal Wootton Bassett Town for the 2026-27 Hellenic League Premier Division campaign

Sawyer has come through Chippenham Town’s Academy - and was included in the Bluebirds’ National League South squad last season, travelling with the team on a handful of occasions as their backup goalkeeper

Sawyer was signed with Cirencester Town last season too, playing a single Hellenic League Premier Division game

He is also a player who has great pedigree as the son of Kevin Sawyer - a goalkeeper who racked up over 500 Southern League appearances

Louis is Royal again!

Gifted left back Louis Spalding is set to return to Royal Wootton Bassett Town for the 2026-27 season as Men’s First Team manager Jonny Aitkenhead continues to build his squad ahead of the new Hellenic League Premier Division campaign

Skilful, quick and an outstanding defender, Spalding is the complete package - as he demonstrated in three seasons with Bassett from 2022 to 2025 when he played 95 times, scoring 13 goals, earning a Player of the Year double in 2022-23

A long term injury meant Spalding missed a good year of football, but he made a successful comeback with Fairford Town last season

And now Spalding is set to be back in blue and yellow!

Royal Wootton Bassett Town FC are proud to be an England Football Two Star Accredited Club, with more than thirty teams ranging from Under 7s to Over 50s.

We are the only club in Wiltshire with teams playing at steps five (Hellenic League Premier Division) and seven (Wiltshire League Premier Division) of the men's National League System and tier five of the Women's Football Pyramid (South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division).

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Football Club's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 16 July at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground. The meeting will begin at 7.30pm.

The meeting is open to all to attend, and attendance is actively encouraged as it is a chance to shape the future direction of the club.

There are currently three vacancies on the Executive Committee for which volunteers are sought. These are:

💙 Youth Section Secretary
💛 Club Development Officer
💙 Welfare Officer (not voteable)

Anyone wishing to stand for election for these positions must, as per the club's Constitution, be nominated by both a Proposer and Seconder no later than 21 days before the AGM (25 June 2026).

Nominations must be made to club Secretary Ian Thomas by email ([email protected]).

🏆💙💛 Under 18 Yellow presentation award winners! 🏆💙💛

The Under 18 Yellows recently held their end of season presentation in the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground clubhouse

The team were celebrating a season in which they finished third in North Wilts League Division Two (just a point off runners-up spot)

Manager's Player of the Year: Fynn Crone - a player who has an excellent season. 27 games, 27 starts, 95% training attendance, 26 goals and 35 assists. His commitment, effort levels and creative ability set the standard for the whole squad.

Players' Player of the Year: Noah Saxby - a player chosen from 6 nominations by his teammates and what a worthy winner! 27 games, 25 starts, 86% training attendance, 27 goals and 16 assists. Exceptional all season long!

Clubperson of the Year: Seb Scutt - a thoroughly deserved award for a player who led by example with outstanding attitude, effort and leadership throughout the season. 22 games, 19 starts, 90% training attendance.

A huge congratulations to all the award winners and to every player who pulled on the shirt this season.

As coach Vitor de Oliveira put it: "We congratulate all our winners but most importantly recognise the effort from every member of the team this season. We look forward to seeing the team progress even further in 2026-27!”

Talented youngsters ready to push on

Promising midfielders George Cook and Harry Feeney have put to paper with Royal Wootton Bassett Town for the 2026-27 season - and both will be seeking to impress and push for further game time

A hard working left-sided player, Cook worked his way into a starting role in the second half of last season. Playing 19 times in all, he scored once while also providing a handful of assists

Centre midfielder Feeney, who also spent time with Melksham Town, featured six times - all as a substitute - towards the end of the campaign

Both players boast plenty of talent - and it is great to see them commit to Bassett to continue their development
