Everyone at RWB RFC is incredibly proud to see Harry Butterworth selected for Waikato representative squad in New Zealand.
Harry joined the club straight from school and quickly immersed himself in senior rugby, developing through our 1st XV environment and taking every opportunity to learn, improve and challenge himself. His selection is a reflection of the hard work, commitment and attitude he has shown throughout his time at the club.
Now spending his second summer with Fraser Tech Rugby Club in Hamilton, New Zealand around his rugby at RWB RFC, Harry has continued to push himself in a highly competitive rugby environment and has been rewarded with this fantastic opportunity with Waikato.
As a club, we’re passionate about creating opportunities for ambitious young players to progress. Harry’s journey is a brilliant example of what can be achieved. Joining straight from school, earning his place in senior rugby, developing within a successful 1st XV programme and now gaining representative honours overseas is something he should be immensely proud of.
For any young player looking at their next step in the game, Harry’s story shows that RWB RFC can provide a genuine pathway into senior rugby, helping players develop both on and off the field while challenging themselves at the highest level possible.
Congratulations Harry. Everyone at Ballards Ash will be following your progress and wishing you every success in the Waikato colours.
Here’s our squad to take on Hong Kong China tomorrow night in Te Awamutu, kicking off at 6pm - with kids game kicking off from 4 pm!
Selected from club rugby across the Waikato, this group has earned their opportunity through strong performances and commitment throughout the season.
Head Coach Leon Holden said:
‘This team selected to play Hong Kong China have worked hard in our High-Performance environment during the club season. This fixture is a good check point to see where they are at mid way through the year. All the players have committed themselves to additional trainings on Monday nights since the start of March and deserve to be congratulated for their efforts.
This team has been selected from club rugby, and I would like to thank the clubs, and the club coaches, for their support in enabling us to play this historic game.
It is great to host the game at Te Awamutu, and we acknowledge their work in making this game happen too.’
