The Hotchkin Course carries remarkable design heritage.

Harry Vardon created the original layout, Harry C**t refined it before the Great War, and in the 1920s, owner Colonel S.V. Hotchkin undertook a final redesign that shaped the course into the masterpiece it remains today.

Last week we celebrated The Viking Way's 50th anniversary with the installation of this commemorative bench beside our 12th hole, which sits directly on the trail.

Commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council and carved by a local chainsaw artist, it brings together several links between the Viking Way and the club: the Tower on the Moor, Viking runes spelling out Woodhall Spa, and Huginn and Muninn, the two ravens of the Norse god Odin.

The Bracken's short 16th frequently marks the final par 3 of a Woodhall visit and stands apart from most of our 36 holes through one rare feature: water comes into play here.

Tom Doak's Renaissance Golf Design team arrived in 2015 with a clear vision: restore the Hotchkin's heathland character.

As Tom put it: 'Generally removing visual clutter so that the unique bunkering can dominate the views.'

We think they've done a fabulous job.

You'd be forgiven for thinking our Hotchkin Course belongs in Surrey. Yet it sits proudly in the heart of Lincolnshire, on a strip of sand that gives it its distinctive heathland character.

5 of our Professionals flew the flag for Woodhall Spa at the Ping Invitational at Thonock Park on Monday, each representing the club alongside a male, female and junior member ⛳️

There was plenty of success in both the individual and team events:
