St Audrys Golf Club is a friendly golf club situated in East Suffolk just outside the picturesque market town of Woodbridge. We have a challenging, par 60, 9 hole course suitable for golfers of all abilities. It is a pretty, short course with little distance from green to tee.

Another Ace for Richard!

Not content with a hole in one for 5 points on the 9th in April, Richard Haste aced his 3-wood tee shot on the 17th at St Audrys this weekend, in the September Medal.

This hole-in-one ended up giving him the edge, winning the medal by one shot from Mark Cooper, with Paul Ransby another shot back on nett 58.

Yesterday (Friday) we held our 7th 9-hole Texas Scramble of the year, with 9 teams of 4 competing for glory, and some remarkably mediocre prizes.

For the first time I can remember, we had a couple of Junior members sign up to play - and what a difference they made!

Charlie & James, both 13, joined Club Chair Geoff (72), and Club Manager Laurence (65) as first team out. Starting birdie, par, birdie, they finished two under with a gross 28, nett 20.5 to win by 3 shots.

Our last Scramble is on 21st August, followed by a meal of Jo's Steak Pie.

Next year we will have the usual 8 competitions, and perhaps a couple of Junior ones too!

St Audrys men hosted Woodbridge on Thursday evening in the annual match for The Les Jones Putter. Les Jones was the profgessional at Woodbridge for 40 years and, along with fellow Woodbridge member George Thacker, was instrumental in the design and build of the St Audrys course.

On the night, Woodridge triumphed 3 1/2 to 2 1/2, and the winning team are pictured with Chris Dilworth holding the trophy.

It was a very enjoyable match and evening topped off by some excellent Fish & Chips!

Next year's match will be at Woodbridge GC, where we hope to bring the trophy back to St Audrys.

Woodbridge Ladies retained the Charlote's Bowl trophy on countback, from St Audrys Ladies on Wednesday afternoon.

With both teams scoring 84, and both submitting card of 43 & 41 points, it went to countback on the best scoring cards. With a better back nine by one, Woodbridge triumphed for the 6th time overall.

The full resluts were:

1st 84 points - Woodbridge
2nd 84 points - St Audrys
3rd 77 points - Southwold
4th 75 points - Felixstowe Ferry
5th 72 points - Rushmere
6th 70 points - Fynn Valley

Who is going to walk away with one of these today?

Charlotte's Bowl is contested annually by two Ladies teams from each of Woodbridge Golf Club (current holders), Seckford Golf Club , Rushmere Golf Club, Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, Fynn Valley Golf Club and of course, St Audrys Golf Club. The best combined team score wins.

It's going to be hot out there today. Will the golf match it? We'll be supplying cold water at the halfway house to make sure everyone stays safe, and cool.

We hope our visitors enjoy the course, and some of our recent refurbishments.

The new terrace overlooking the putting green and first tee was officially opened on Thursday evening.

A plaque was revealed saying the terrace had been built with the help and support of members in our 60th Anniversary year.

The event was attended by directors and volunteers who give so much of their free time to the club.

Congratulations to Phil Fairbrother on retaining the Men's Club Championship and holding on to the Thacker Cup for another year.

Phil scored 71, just one ahead of Richard Cousins and John Homes on 72, and two ahead of Aly Andrews and John Moton.

Phil was prestened with The Thacker Cup by Men's Captain Richard Cousins.

Winner of the nett prize was Brian Falcus with 57.
