U12 Girls Fundraising Update – Snowdon Challenge ⛰️💪

What a day…

That was brutal. The conditions, the cold, the wind and the rain pushed every single one of us to the limit. For those of us who’ve done this climb before, this was without doubt the toughest we’ve ever experienced.

Every single person gave absolutely everything they had, and that says everything about our team.

Yes, there are aches and pains tonight… and probably even more to come over the next few days 🫣
But what was achieved today is so much bigger than that.

This wasn’t just a climb. This was for a reason.

We took on this challenge to support a cause rooted in real, daily struggles. To raise awareness of something that many families live with every single day, often behind the scenes.

Today, we did our small part for our player Laci, and her family 💚 You were at the heart of everything we did.

And for Regan… this was for you 🧸
You were with us every step of the way.

We have raised and incredible amount, and something everyone involved should be proud of. But beyond the money, the awareness raised and conversations started mean just as much.

To our amazing U12 Girls… you were outstanding.

What you achieved today, in those conditions, is something you should be incredibly proud of. You showed resilience, teamwork and determination beyond your years.

To all parents, families and supporters… thank you. This was a proper team effort from start to finish.

📣 MATCHDAY RESULT – WHAT A GAME!!

Not sure where to start with this one… what a game, what a win, and what a full team performance!!

Firstly, I just want to say a big thank you to Wes for holding the fort today while I was away - really appreciate it 👏

We couldn’t be prouder of the girls and how they performed both on and off the pitch. Every single one of them put a proper shift in 💪

A couple of special mentions…

➡️ Lola – stepped in for our keeper Charlie today and was brilliant. Her reading of the game and how she worked with our solid defence was spot on. Exactly what we asked for 👏

⚽ Goals from Eden and Lily – absolutely buzzing for both of them!

🔥 And a huge well done to our super number 9, who takes Coaches Player of the Match today. Outstanding from start to finish and led the line brilliantly. Big congratulations to Lola who bagged Parents Player for a super performance in goal 💪

I genuinely could mention every single player today, because they all deserve it… top effort all round.

Third in the league with one game left. It’s in our hands for a podium finish 🤞

Not a great game for either set of managers blood pressures today, but a brilliant one for the girls and the spectators (who were out in force for both teams!).

That will go down as one of the games of the season—full of action, end-to-end play, drama and goals.

We started brightly in the first half, building from the back with a great defensive pass that cut through the opposition, finished with Pix’s usual finesse into the bottom corner. Oldbury responded with an unstoppable strike to make it 1–1. We then went 2–1 up, but couldn’t hold on as we conceded from a corner.

Over the last few games, we haven’t quite played to the level we know we’re capable of, but today it was great to see the girls bringing training into the match. The passing and forward play were superb. While we thoroughly deserved the win, a draw was probably a fair result.

Well done to our goal scorers—Pix with a brilliant run and finish, and Eden with an absolute thunderbolt of a penalty!

Congratulations to our Parents Player of the Match, and Coaches Player of the Match:

Both very well deserved. Molly stepped into a defensive role today and showed great versatility, putting in a huge shift. Lily, in her first game with us, was outstanding. This wasn’t a “first game” award—it was earned. Her work rate on the wing, awareness, and passing were excellent.

Kudos to Oldbury United 👏👏👏You’re one of the most improved teams we’ve faced this season. From an 8–1 result, to 3–1, and now a 2–2 draw— we have seen you guys improve massively . Great team spirit too, it was a pleasure to host you and your supporters 🤝

Thank you again for your efforts, girls—you do us proud every week.

We knew today would be a tough game against Halesowen Town Belles, so we set up in a defensive 4-3-1 formation looking to stay organised and try to catch them on the break, knowing how well they play.

Unfortunately, that plan was disrupted early on when a great cross was converted to put us 1-0 down.

The aim then was to get to half-time at 1-0 so we could regroup and go again in the second half - which we did. Sadly, not long into the second half, a worldie of a strike found the back of our net, followed shortly after by a goal-line scramble where we were unlucky to see the ball just cross the line, leaving us 3-0 down for full time.

Despite the scoreline, there were plenty of positives. The performance was a big improvement on last week, and on our day we know we can go toe-to-toe with anyone. It’s just about finding that consistency.

No goals for us today, but a massive well done to our award winners:

Parents Player of the Match – Charlie
Coaches Player of the Match – Gracie

Although it’s a loss, today showed real progression. We now have a week off before we return at the end of the month ready to go again.

Also a big well done to Halesowen Town’s goalkeeper, who was voted Players Player of the Match by our girls. Great game and best of luck for the rest of the season to the team.
