Congratulations to Sahil Khan and Conah Walker, (who fought for Merridale Boxing Club as amateurs) for winning their professional bouts spectacularly last weekend. They both fought on DAZN and Matchroom platform. Conah Walker was crowned the international welterweight champion, while Sahil began his professional career with a points victory.
Best of luck to both in their professional careers!

***Sahil Khan has reached the quarter finals of the National Senior Elite Championships***

He will be fighting this Saturday in the quarter finals at the University of east London (see below for venue details) and if he wins, will progress to semi-finals, which take place the next day (same venue).

Please come and show your support to this fantastically talented lad, who is thriving to become Englands best elite boxer at his weight.

Merridale Boxing Club are very saddened to announce that Boxing Gym Coach Paul Smith passed away peacefully at his home this morning. He will always be remembered as a legend – verified by his achievements with our young boxers. 😥

Due to receiving overwhelming messages and emails about the gym opening times and membership options, we would like to inform you that because of the current COVID situation and government guidance, the gym is only open to ‘carded’ boxers to keep the social distancing. We will continue to review the situation on a regular basis and keep you informed if anything changes.

Important Notice!!

As per the Governments recent guidance regarding gyms/boxing clubs, we will reopen from Monday 3rd August, please note the following:

The gym will reopen as a phased approach with limited capacity and for the First Phase CARDED BOXERS will train ONLY.

The opening times for the gym will be 6:30pm – 8:00pm From Monday to Friday

ALL the non-carded member classes will be part of Phase Two opening and we will inform you when these classes will re-start.

A regular and thorough cleaning at the gym will take place every day to minimize risk and protect members.

All members are requested not to get changed at the gym and don’t bring a sweat towel to the gym at all to limit the spread of germs brought in from outside the gym.

The goal is to get the government to rethink their decision to close gyms and leisure centres and to come to an agreement to reopen them. As myself and many people rely on gym as part of therapy or a source of happiness I think it would be beneficial for all to reopen them.
