1ST TEAM
🏆 DIVISION ONE CHAMPIONS! 🏆
The 1s went into the final game of the season knowing that a win would be enough to secure the Division One title.
Winning the toss, we opted to bowl first and it proved to be an excellent decision. Wickets fell consistently throughout the innings as the bowling attack kept the pressure on Milford, eventually bowling them all out for 130.
The pick of the bowlers was Waqar Ali, who produced a brilliant spell to finish with an outstanding 5-wicket haul from his 10 overs. 👏
The run chase got off to the perfect start, with the opening pair putting together a 95-run partnership. Alex Dizija eventually fell for a well-made 32, but there was little drama from there as Lewis Hughes remained unbeaten on 59* to guide us home.
We reached the target in just 22 overs, securing a comprehensive 8-wicket victory.
A fantastic performance from the team and the perfect way to finish the season. Division One Champions for 2026! 🏆💪

3RD TEAM
The 3rd XI once again fell to a narrow defeat in their final home game of season at Tettenhall College.
Coseley 2s were the visitors and had no hesitation in bowling first on a green wicket. Wightwick were well placed at 103/3 with Issac Jellis (59) and James Haffie-Hobday (23) the notable contributions. The home side then collapsed in very ordinary fashion and were bowled for just 119; opposition skipper Stuart Knight taking a remarkable five wicket haul.
Coseley’s openers then went about the run chase in ruthless fashion but were pegged back by Zulf Fazal (3/27) and Ben Maybury (2/30). Regular wickets made for a nervy finish, but the away side crossed the winning line seven wickets down, leaving the 3s once again on the losing side.
Wightwick end their season away at Penkridge on Saturday, hoping for a positive end to a campaign that at one stage promised so much. 🥺
4TH TEAM
The 4s were on the road this week playing away to Hammerwich.
Batting first, we found it hard to score freely as a mixture of good bowling and a tricky pitch was proving difficult. Our openers, Sid (57) & Caleb (48) battled hard to get us to 98 but it took over 30 overs to get to that score. Wickets tumbled soon after and we finished our innings on 152-6.
Hammerwich came out firing and our bowlers struggled to contain them. They showed their experience playing on familiar conditions and cruised to a 8 wicket victory.
The 4s hope to finish on a high next week playing Beacon at home. 😔
5TH TEAM
To start the final game of the season for the 5s, we won the toss and chose to bat. David led the way with a great knock of 86, carrying his bat for much of the innings. The rest of the order battled to add some runs, but regular wickets prevented us from building any partnerships. The opposition gave away 33 extras, including 20 wides and 11 no balls, which brought us to a total of 149 all out in just 30 overs.
With the ball, We had a good start getting both of the openers out early before they could really start the chase. Rosie took 2 wickets with one coming in her first over. Joe and Jovan also picked up one each. However, the run rate stayed much higher than ours and they reached 151-4 in just 18 overs.
There were some positives to take with David’s innings and the bowling spells. It was a good effort from the whole team to end the season for and plenty to work on going into next season. ❤️
