Old Wulfrunians Hockey Club

Old Wulfrunians Hockey Club Welcome to Old Wulfrunians Hockey Club! Our membership age ranges from 7 to 90 and new members are always welcome, regardless of age, experience or ambition.

From modest beginnings the club has grown steadily and is now one of the largest clubs in the City of Wolverhampton and currently runs 5 Saturday sides (4 league and a badgers) and sides for U16s, O40s, O50s and mixed sides on a regular basis, mostly mid week. Old Wulfrunians Hockey Club, widely known as "Old Wulfs", was formed in 1953 by a group of former school friends who had enjoyed playing ho

ckey whilst on National Service and wanted to continue playing. Frequent social events help to ensure a traditional friendly club atmosphere. Our current leagues.

1sts - Division 7 North West
2nds - Division 8 North West
3rds - Division 9 North West
4ths - Division 10 North West

Training

Both Junior and Senior training will still take place on Tuesday evenings. Training will start on the Tuesday 16th August 2022.

Busy weekend for Old Wulfs for all clubs, the 1sts with a 2-0 win against finchfield, pictured as well with well deserved pints.
Elsewhere, the 2nds struggled with a 5-2 loss against Cannock, the 3rds with an impressive 3-1 win Vs North Staffs and the 4ths with a draw against Litchfield.

Not many games now until the end of the season but training is still on Tuesdays 7.30 pm at Wolverhampton Grammar School. See you all there

A huge congratulations to our very own Ray Jeff who was awarded the Veteran of the year award from the Wolverhampton Sports Advisory Council, given to him by the Mayor of Wolverhampton. Thank you Ray for all that you've contributed over the many years and we are all very proud!

The Men's 65s took gold at the Masters World Cup in Cape Take after a thrilling final with the Netherlands. England led 2-1 for much of the game thanks to goals from very own Billy Jawanda, and Rod Naughalty but Netherlands equalised at the death. However the team shook off this disappointment to win the shootout with only one goal getting past England's Keeper.

Over the whole tournament Billy managed to bag an impressive 8 goals. Congratulations Billy on a successful tournament and may that form continue!!

2-1 for the 1sts and 7-4 for the 2nds!
Tougher results for the 3rds and 4ths as they both come unstuck against 3s and 4s.

No match next week as it's the international break (half term for schools but gotta sound fancy don't we!) but training will still be on Tuesday @ 7.30pm. hope to see you all there!

7 is heaven for our 3rds in GW2, winning 7-2 vs. 4ths. A huge result and a great first win of the season for them.

Elsewhere, 1st Team fought valiantly but ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to 3rd, our 2nds lost 1-0 to Market Drayton 1sts thanks to a contentious 'ghost' goal (but we're not bitter and totally over it...) and our 4th team lost 7-0 to 8ths.

Plenty to work on in training (Tuesdays 7.30pm at if you don't already know / want to come down and join!) - hopefully see you all there!
