🟢 ROUND 6 | THE OAKS GO UNBEATEN ACROSS THE BOARD! 🟡
An absolutely massive, unbeaten Saturday for Wokingham! All six of our senior league sides came through the day without a single defeat, collecting five brilliant victories in the Thames Valley League and a masterclass in defiance from our 1st XI to secure a vital draw. 🔥👏
🚀 1st XI: The 1s displayed unbelievable grit, composure, and fighting spirit at Henley to escape with a crucial draw. After electing to field first, our bowlers stuck to their tasks diligently. Max Uttley stole the headlines with a sensational hat-trick, ripping through the lower order to finish with superb figures of 4/57 from 18 overs. Samarjeet Singh (2/52) struck twice, while Sachin Sivanandan, Jacob Clark, and Shaan Khan picked up a wicket each to bowl Henley out for 213.
In response, the target looked distant as the top order faced heavy pressure, but Archie Carter anchored the innings magnificently with a clutch, gritty 64 from 104 balls. When a flurry of wickets left us sweating, Jacob Clark showed nerves of steel, blocking out 42 balls for his unbeaten 9 to hold Henley at bay and secure 10 incredibly valuable points at 156/8! 🪵🔒
💪 2nd XI: Back at the Wellington Oval, the 2s put on a dominant display to brush aside Hayes by 123 runs! Batting first, the Oaks posted an excellent 235/9 from 52 overs, spearheaded by brilliant half-centuries from Harry Warwick (56) and Mushtafa Mushafa (51), alongside fine support from Anthony Clapham (34) and Paul Dewick (35*).
The defense was nothing short of clinical, lit up by a dream 2nd XI debut for Micah Doughty. Micah was completely unplayable in his first outing for the 2s, dismantling the Hayes batting lineup to finish with astonishing figures of 4/10 from 6.3 overs. Daniel Longridge (3/29) and Anthony Clapham (2/24) locked things down from the other end as Hayes were skittled for just 112, securing a maximum 26-point win! 🌪️
🏏 3rd XI: The 3s celebrated an emphatic 103-run victory over Shinfield 1st XI at the McGill Oval, illuminated by a spectacular innings from Chinmay Kulkarni! Chinmay carried his bat for a brilliant, unbeaten 130* off 161 balls (including 16 boundaries) to power the Oaks to a massive 251/6! Ryan Pogson (36) and Rowan Goldspring (27) provided great middle-order support. Alex O’Keeffe then dismantled the Shinfield reply with a magnificent 4/25, backed by Andrew McGrenaghan (2/32), bowling the visitors out for 148 to secure a comfortable 26 points! 💯💫
🔥 4th XI: The 4s traveled to Home Park and returned with an excellent 41-run win over Windsor 2nd XI. Batting first, the Oaks compiled 206/9 thanks to a superb, aggressive 54 from Toby Barker, well supported by Taylor Wallbank (35*). Windsor's chase never got going as our bowling unit squeezed the hosts. Jamie Cable led the way with the ball, taking brilliant figures of 4/28 from 9 overs, while Arvind Bhat (2/23) and Toby Barker (2/18) cleaned up the tail to bowl Windsor out for 165. ⚡
🎯 5th XI: Over at Fox Lane, the 5s edged out Eversley 4th XI in an absolute thriller, winning by 11 runs! Wokingham batted first and scrambled to 170 all out, entirely anchored by a masterful, unbeaten 71* from Patrick Coyne, with Ranjeet Sidhu contributing 32. Defending a modest total, the bowlers rose to the occasion under pressure. Jitto Joseph was the hero, returning magnificent, clutch figures of 3/30 off his 9 overs, while Ranjeet Sidhu (2/29) and Ethan Tatum (1/27) kept it tight to restrict Eversley to 159/8! 🎪
🎉 6th XI: Rounding off a perfect day for our Thames Valley sides, the 6s secured a brilliant 53-run victory against Yateley 2nd XI at Reddam House. Wokingham batted first and posted 193 all out, led by a fantastic 61 from Steve Bendall.
Defending the total, Hayden Gooch and Fawad Hasan starred with the ball, breaking partnerships and leading the charge with a fantastic three wickets apiece. Their clinical spells spearheaded a superb, disciplined team squeeze that kept the pressure high and bundled Yateley out for 140 to take maximum points! 🌟
An absolutely sensational Saturday across the board. What a day to be an Oak! 🟢🟡
