Great video identifying how important body position is when receiving the ball and it’s use in an Up, Back & Through.

Here the first pass engages the central defender, pulling them out of position leaving space behind. The second pass allows the movement of Sterling to rotate into that space leading to the through ball and the finish.

Body position is a form of non-verbal communication. How someone is standing when they receive a ball is a trigger for defenders to press or not. As a player how you use this to your advantage is so important!

Very simple football played in a complex environment.
