A few of our members showed up in style for Bowmen of Warfield's Short Metric Competition last weekend and we came away with some shiny stuff in the Senior Open, 70+ Open, U21 Open Categories.

But perhaps what we will remember most is getting the Lord Paramount prize given to our Barry for being the most loudly dressed club on the line 🀣 we love our "fun" shirts and we hope you guys do too...

Thanks to host club Bowmen of Warfield for putting on another great Short Metric Shoot. See you next year πŸ‘

Stan Boatman Memorial Friendly Shoot 2026:

What a day it was, clouds and the tiniest spots of rain broke away before shooting started to give us the sunshine and heat we have all come to expect since sometime in May πŸ₯΅πŸ˜Ž

Lots of sweets given away, lot of fun had by those who attended and some newbies getting a taste of that competition life. Nice to see some junior archers joining us and of course the "1 arrow, its a knockout let's shoot at darts faces" at the end of the day was the highlight of the event.

Thankyou to all who came and shot, to all Burleigh crew who attended and made the day the fun, social event that we coaches have been telling other clubs it is.

A chilled out Monday night (4 junior archers in the end)...but the hard ground played some tricks on us. 1 arrow required multiple ends of searching and metal detector usage but all located and still in one piece what a win 😎 just 20yrds further and a bit more left than we thought it would be...

Berkshire County Champs 2026 - 10 Burleigh Members made their way to Harlequin Bowmen for this year's County Champs.

Just the right amount of sunshine, a reasonably polite breeze stopping it from getting to hot and a visit from the local ice-cream van at lunchtime made for a rather enjoyable day all round. Burleigh archers present put in a solid effort all day and we came away with some of the shiny stuff 😎

Huge Congratulations to our Junior Club Members who went and took part in the Record Status Short Metric Competition at our neighbour club Bowmen of Warfield. Every single one of them did brilliantly shooting in the heat and the wind today.

Medals all round and a bit of chocolate - hopefully it didn't melt in the cars on the way home.

Thanks to Warfield for another well run junior shoot. Our crew definitely had fun 🎯

P.S. see the last photo to see a couple of our Burleigh Support Crew having a little bit of fun behind the line 🀣 (credit to one of the parents of our shooting juniors for this one)

"Can you see me, over?"

Monday Night Junior club we have monthly "group fun". Taking place this evening, on a rather more comfortable 24Β°c weather day...so what else to do but attempt a New Warwick and try to break/set some county records.

Queue the walkie talkies for long distance communication, metal detectors for pesky hiding arrows, several coaches/supporters, binoculars and a scope.

Well Done to our Juniors and our visitor from Bowmen of Warfield. Lots of trust given over to the coaches from the juniors as we adults tried to agree on "left a bit/right a bit", "that went short" and "where did that power come from it went over the top" 🀣

Keeping fun and varied one week at a time.

Club Open Tournament - 21st June 2026. What a day it was over 50 visiting archers joined some of our Juniors on the line for a WA 900 round (plus variations).

We do try and book the sunshine for our events at Burleigh but we may have "exceeded expectations" with the temperatures we hit πŸ₯΅πŸ˜Ž

But everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, the tea tent as usual serving up many delicious home baked treats from the members.

We finished the day mildly sunburnt (in some cases), very tired and incredibly proud of our Juniors: records were claimed, attending a first tournament and shooting new distances achieved, nerves conquered and new levels of confidence discovered.

Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you next year (or in August for our Stan Boatman Memorial Friendly if you find your missing us too much)
