When defending the cross collar choke from the back, start by placing your hands deep into your own collar. That way, as their arms come in to attack, you’re already positioned.

If your hands are too far out or you rush to fight their arms too early, you’ll get caught.

But with deep collar placement and patience, your chances of escaping or at least avoiding a quick tap are much better!

When they're standing in your closed guard, this lumberjack sweep is a fantastic technique—if done right.

The key is not just a bump; it's what I call a salsa dance motion. You want to connect your hip to their knee. At the same time, keep your head and arm tightly connected to the foot you're sweeping.

It’s all about that timing and connection!
