Bank holiday blues 💙

We’d been looking forward to this trip for almost a year and although it didn’t end up on a sunny beach as planned - Spending time together with some boujee activities more than made up for it 😋

Things often don’t go as expected (not talking about holidays now lol) but when you look back on each event you’ll realise it was all supposed to happen the way it did 🙌🏼

Can you believe it’s September 1st tomorrow?! 🤯

I’m away this weekend for our first England staycation! We were so full after having a starter and main but we saw someone else with this dessert and HAD to know if it tastes as good as it looks 😏

Now we of course don’t neeed to be able to do middle splits but working on your adductor (inner thigh) flexibility and strength will do wonders for you I promise!

Did you know that tight/weak adductors are often linked to back pain?⚡️

and I are going live today on her account at 4pm UK time to go through exercises that will benefit your adductors but also help you to work towards middle splits if that’s a goal of yours 🔥

So nice that finalllly all these things are here and we can see and hug each other again (those that want to haha) 💙

It’s important to remember that most hard times will pass.

Wherever you may be at now in your journey, you know you could be looking back in a years time in a much better place✨

Covid aside. Have a think today about something you’re proud of overcoming this last year?

Just another dose of don’t trust what you see on the internet 😂

Remember all your individual features make you YOU & that’s what’s beautiful! 🤩

Yes I like to provide training ideas and tips for you guys but I also want to share realness, as well as inspiring you to appreciate what your body and mind can do!

Can you think of three things you are grateful for about your body that have nothing to do with the way you look?

I’ll go first...

🌟 I’m grateful for my body’s ability to adapt and overcome serious injury

🌟 I’m grateful for the strength my body has to do cool skills like handstands and pull ups

🌟 I’m grateful for every single part of my body that’s working away without me knowing and maintaining my health

Our bodies are bloody amazing! There’s so many more things I can list but I’d love to know what your 3 are?

This is also a message to me 😂

I have spent my life as a gymnast being told to ‘push through’, ‘don’t be lazy’, ‘no pain no gain’...

I remember speaking to when my back pain was at its worst and she said to me - ‘You’re training too much and you’re not eating enough’ 🤯

This was mind boggling to me because I thought this is what I needed to be a successful PT and high level cheerleader with abs (a post for another day lol) - no matter how tired I was I felt like a failure if I didn’t push through...

But now I value soo much the benefits of 8-9 hours sleep, fuelling my body to be strong, and I currently only strength train 3 times a week - I FEEL GREAT!

Apart from yesterday 😂 Aunt Flo is visiting (my period) and hopefully you’ve all seen my posts as to why that would effect my energy levels!

Rest days are so important so please listen to your body when it needs one!

Tag a friend who needs to hear this too! 💙

PULL UP SHOULDER MOBILITY Pt.3 🌟

Now it’s time to prep your shoulder movement for pull ups... 🤓

Once you feel more mobile and strong with your arms over head, next you can work on practicing the elevation and depression that is required of your scapula (shoulder blades) in a pull up...

🌟 Pole/Band/Towel Scapula Elevation & Depression 🌟

Tip: Position hands wider to make it easier with the ultimate aim to get your hands shoulder width comfortably...

Work towards 10 reps x 3 - stay aware of your mind to muscle connection and how you would put this into practice with your pull ups 🤓

Keep your ribs pressed down and core engaged to prevent lower back arching🔥🔥🔥

Once you’ve mastered your shoulder flexion with the PAILS/RAILS exercise I shared earlier (Pt.1), work on this one next...

🌟 Pole/Band/Towel Lift Into Shoulder Flexion🌟

Let’s build strength in this position 💪🏼

Tip: Position hands wider to make it easier with the ultimate aim to get your hands shoulder width comfortably...

Work towards 10 reps x 3 - aim to hold lifted position 2 secs each time

Tuck your hips under and keep tension in your body throughout 🔥🔥🔥

We’ve waited so long to be able to see each other outside and with some sunshine too what an added bonus!
