🔴 WWBC Update 🔴🔵

Here’s a round-up of last week’s results and a look ahead to the week ahead.

Results from Last Week

Ladies Senior Fours
Ann, Brig, Barbie & Karen were defeated by Annie Bristow and team from City & County.

Men’s County Pairs
Andy & David L lost away to Howard Watts at Headington.

Shep & Kev A enjoyed a successful week winning all their games and now through to the semi-finals. 🥳

Men’s Senior Fours
Kev W, Nigel, Andy & Kev A were defeated by Chris Cox and team.

Ladies League
A tough evening against Banbury Central, resulting in a 0-10 loss.

Mixed Triples League
A fantastic performance at home against Long Hanborough, securing a 10-2 victory and an impressive 84-40 shot difference. 👏

County Middleton Cup & John’s Trophy
Unfortunately both Oxfordshire teams were defeated. However, special congratulations go to Helen and Jazz, who were the only winning rink at City & County, securing victory with a fortunate opposition last wood.

Club Friendly v Charlbury
Played on a very warm afternoon with a welcome hydration break for all involved. West Witney won on two rinks, but narrowly lost the overall match by just 3 shots.

Club Competitions
There have been some closely contested games across the club competitions:

* Dave P and Russ enjoyed a hard-fought battle, with Russ eventually coming out on top.
* Matt and Georgie were tied on 75 points apiece in the 4-3-2-1 competition before Georgie secured victory on the final end.

📆 Results from Last Week

National Mixed Fours
Barbie, Jazzmin, Nigel & Kev A were narrowly defeated by just one shot against Will Campion and team.

Ladies League
A 4-6 loss against Banbury Borough. However, results elsewhere went in our favour and we now sit top of the league with four games remaining. 🎉

Champion of Champions
Kev A won 21-16 and progresses to the Area Semi-Final.

Men’s League
A 2-4 loss away at South Oxford.

Club Friendly v Porters
This fixture was captained by David Woodcock, making a welcome return after his medical sabbatical.

Club Friendly v Blackbird Leys
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon played in great spirit. A special mention goes to Felix, who put in an excellent performance at lead.

* Shep & Kev A won 22-14.
* Kev W & Dave C were unfortunately defeated by 6 shots away to Ian Henwood at Headington.

Here’s a round-up of last week’s results and a look ahead to the week ahead.

📆 Results from Last Week…

Men’s County Triples
Nigel, Shep & David L won away at Watlington on Monday but unfortunately lost in the quarter-final on Friday.

Ladies County Triples
Rachel, Barbie & Karen won away at City & County last Monday and followed this up with another victory at Woodstock last night. They now progress to the quarter-final, which will be played at City & County on 29th June.

Brig, Helen & Jazz won their game last Monday but were unfortunately defeated last night by Katherine Hawes and her team from Headington.

Senior Fours
Nigel, Spud, Andy & Kev A secured a 21-11 victory and will play their quarter-final at home on 16th June.

Ladies League
A fantastic 5-1 away win at Long Hanborough.

Mixed Pairs
Kevin & Jazzmin were defeated at Banbury.

Men’s League
A 1-5 loss against Witney Mills.

Ladies Champion of Champions
Jazzmin was defeated by Katherine Hawes.

Ladies County Pairs

* Georgie won against Banbury Central.
* Rachel & Karen lost at City & County.
* Helen & Jazz defeated Maureen Cox from Kidlington.

Mixed Friendly v Kidlington
Played in mixed weather conditions. Thank you to everyone who made themselves available, especially Sam, who played in his first club friendly for West Witney.

There were several close rink scores throughout the afternoon, but West Witney unfortunately lost by 7 shots overall.

National Senior Pairs
Nigel & Kevin won 21-5 against Ray Gaskins & Howard Watts and have progressed to the Area Quarter-Final.

Men’s County Pairs – Round 1
Andy & David L won 27-10, including an impressive 8-shot first end! 🎉 They will now play Adrian Cuzner of Watlington at home in the next round.

Mixed Pairs
Georgie & Craig were defeated by Helen & Lee at Central.

Well done to Jazz, Georgie, and Helen for representing our county in the Walker Cup Regionals. 💙

Well done to our ladies who won all 3 of their games today in the Walker Cup Regionals at Moulden Bowls Club, Bedfordshire. They won 6-2 on all games, securing qualifying for the National Finals.

They have done us all in Oxfordshire proud today with their grit and determination to get over the line.

Another busy week on the green for West Witney. ☀️

Results from last week included:

• Men’s County Fours Last 16 — Nigel, Spud, Andy & Kev A were defeated away at Charlbury
• Officers Cup — Karen lost away at Bloxham against Paul
• Longford Cup — Kevin W lost away at Burford against John Hurran
• Men’s Top Club — lost away at Chipping Norton
• Ladies League — fantastic 8–2 win against Witney Town, putting the ladies top of the league 👏
• Men’s League — 1–5 loss against Burford, currently sitting second in the league
• Club Friendly vs Abingdon — played in great spirit on a very hot afternoon, with a win for West
• County 2 Wood at South Oxford — both Shep and David L won their opening matches before narrowly losing in round two

• Jazz progressing in the Ladies Champion of Champions with a brilliant 21-9 win

• Georgie & Craig Morphet picking up a Mixed Pairs victory

• A tough extra-end loss for Andy, Rachel, Karen & Shep in the Mixed Fours against Carterton

• West Witney just narrowly losing out on a win at Banbury Central in ladies league, but picked up 4 points on two rinks.

• A solid 6-0 Men’s League win over Carterton B

• Nigel, Spud, Andy & Kev A progressing in the Men’s County Fours

• A 9-3 Mixed Triples League win against Banbury Central, with a special mention to Jerry, Spud & Helen for a convincing rink win. Player of the match went to Helen!

• Wins for Jazz & Kev A in the Mixed Pairs

• good win on our Senior Fours side against Carterton

A strong week for West Witney! 🔵🔴

- Ladies League got off to the perfect start with a fantastic 10–0 away win at Banbury Borough

- Nigel & Kev A won their first round of the Overs Pairs against Gary Panos & partner at Witney Town

- Our National Double Rink side beat Headington B 37–28 at home, with the final ends played in near darkness!

- David L & Dad also competed in the Family Pairs against the Oslings. Sadly lost 17-11 but played well on a tricky green.

- David L & Georgie secured a 16–9 Mixed Fours win away at Headington.

- The club friendly away at Blackbird Leys finished in a narrow 74–72 victory, winning on 3 rinks overall, with Captain Barbie’s rink finishing as highest winning rink!
