⚽ Withernsea AFC U11s vs Beverley Town Avengers – Match Report ⚽

It was a fiercely contested fixture at home for Withernsea AFC U11s this weekend as they took on a determined Beverley Town Avengers side. Both teams brought high energy and plenty of heart, resulting in a thrilling and even battle from the first whistle to the last.

A special mention goes to Billy, who made his debut for the Seasiders. Taking up position on the right wing, he wasted no time making his mark—showing pace, determination, and plenty of promise in his first outing.

Hunter stepped into a new role at right back and was nothing short of unstoppable. From crunching tackles to composed defending, his tireless work at the back earned him the well-deserved Coach’s Player of the Match.

Albie came close to breaking the deadlock with a one-on-one against the Beverley keeper, only to be denied at the final moment. The pressure kept building, and the chances kept coming.

In goal, Archie pulled on the gloves for the first half and gave it absolutely everything, putting his body on the line for the team. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed as he was awarded Parents’ Player of the Match for his efforts.

With the clock ticking down and the scores still level, the breakthrough finally came. A late free-kick was awarded just outside the box, and up stepped skipper Fred. With ice in his veins, he struck an absolute screamer into the net.

An opportunity for Beverley arose but Carlton made a vital save with his leg to keep Withernsea in it, showing sharp reactions and bravery in a key moment

A great team effort all round with every player putting in a shift. Well done, lads!

Withernsea U11s vs Kingswood United Leopards

Withernsea Under 11s braved the wet and windy conditions on a rainy Sunday morning as they faced Kingswood United Leopards at home. Despite the difficult weather, the match proved to be a thrilling display of determination, teamwork, and individual brilliance.

The game got off to a challenging start for the home side, with Kingswood taking an early lead in the opening minutes. But Withernsea wasted no time in responding. Straight from the restart, the team surged forward and were awarded a penalty. Fred stepped up confidently and delivered a stunning strike — the ball soared over the wall and into the top corner, leveling the score.

With their spirits lifted, Withernsea pressed on. A perfectly delivered corner from Chester found Archie in the box, who made no mistake with a tidy finish to give Withernsea a 2-1 lead.

That momentum carried into the second half, with the team growing in confidence. Albie quickly made his mark, netting two well-taken goals to extend the lead. Kingswood managed to claw one back, but Withernsea remained focused.

A moment of drama came when a late tackle from Freddie led to a penalty for Kingswood. But Frankie, alert and fearless in goal, dived to his right to make a fantastic save, denying the visitors any chance of a comeback.

With the clock ticking down, Albie found another gear, scoring an impressive 3 more goals in the second half to take his tally to five goals for the game. His finishing was clinical, and his energy relentless as Withernsea sealed the match with a dominant 7-2 victory.

Withernsea U11s Face Tough Test Away at South Cave

It was an emotional morning for Withernsea U11s as they made the early trip to South Cave for what marked Aria’s final game with the team. Aria has made the tough decision to focus her efforts on Withernsea United AFC Girls Team, and her presence on and off the pitch will be sorely missed. A true team player and dedicated squad member, Aria leaves behind a legacy of commitment, passion, and plenty of memories.

Withernsea started brightly, showing intent right from the whistle. Fred opened the scoring with a well-taken early goal, giving the visitors an initial boost. However, South Cave responded quickly with an equaliser, setting the tone for a competitive match.

Chester made some excellent runs down the flanks, linking up well with Logan, while Aria continued to show her quality in her final appearance, supporting Frankie between the posts. Frankie was called into action several times and stood firm under pressure.

Opportunities came for both Albie and Archie as Withernsea pushed forward, but the South Cave defence held strong. A well-worked move from the hosts eventually saw them find the net again, edging them ahead.

At the break, Withernsea reshuffled. Robbie came on to replace Archie and made an immediate impact with some driving runs down the pitch. Despite their attacking intent, the South Cave defence remained resilient.

A Withernsea corner saw an own goal but eith another couple of goals from South Cave, Withernsea struggled to pull it back.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Aria was substituted to a warm round of applause from her teammates — a fitting and heartfelt tribute to her contribution to the team. A bittersweet moment for all involved.

The game ended in defeat for Withernsea, but the team showed plenty of spirit and determination. While it wasn't the result they had hoped for, the squad remains focused and ready to bounce back next weekend as they welcome Kingswood Leopards at home.
