Withernsea Bowling Club

Withernsea Bowling Club Originally called Withernsea Lawn Tennis and Bowling Club when it was formed in 1924, now just known as Withernsea Bowling Club.

The newly refurbished tennis courts are now open. Access to them is via Old Market Car Park, Station Road (near The Hut). We have approximately 50 members, and we play in several leagues. We also play numerous friendlies against other clubs, hold internal club competitions, special club days and matches during the year. We have a club house with a fully licenced bar together with tea and coffee ma

king facilities. Our attractive gardens house an outdoor seating area giving an elevated view of the playing field. Even if you are not partaking in a game, it is the perfect way to spend a summer’s day listening to the gentle click of bowls with a cool drink. The previous season saw several new members join us, but we would love to see more new players this year, ladies and men, of all ages. Many of our best players started in their teens and have played now for decades. The bowling green is a great leveller, enabling a 90 year old and a 19 year old to play each other on equal terms. So if you are looking for a sport combining physical skill and tactical challenge, or just to keep you active after your days of running around sports fields are done, bowls is ideal. Just ask our octogenarians how playing has been good for them.

If you would like to understand more about the Laws of Lawn Green Bowling we shall have a session at the club on Monday 8th July at 10am
We will cover the basic Laws as noted in the attachment. If you would like to attend please print this and bring it with you.
The session will last approximately one hour. You don`t need any equipment other than flat shoes.
