It was a wonderful evening last weekend as we welcomed all our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters to the club's annual Presentation Evening.

It was a fantastic opportunity to thank the many people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide local players with a platform to enjoy and develop through football.

Just 12 months ago, we were wondering whether we would have enough players to field two senior teams.

Fast forward a year, and the First Team secured an impressive 4th-place finish in Division 2. Our Reserves battled admirably throughout the season with a full squad of 16 players week-in week-out, while the Warriors have grown to around 60 local children, an outstanding achievement for a club serving a relatively small catchment area.

The future continues to look brighter.

Our commitment to developing young players is already paying dividends, with several youngsters making a significant impact in the men's teams this season.

As our youth pathway continues to grow, we are excited about what lies ahead for the club both on and off the pitch.

Thank you to everyone who has played their part in another memorable season. Together, we continue to build something special. ⚽

Last game of the season 💥

Reserves v North Tawton FC (12.30pm)

The season concludes today as the reserves welcome North Tawton back to Edgedown Park after the previous fixture was abandoned due to an unfortunate injury to Liam.

North Tawton are league winners so it’ll be a great opportunity for the Reserves to finish strongly.

Bar open and FA cup final to follow 📺

Charlie represented Withy in our Division 3 league winning campaign and left a lasting impression on everyone at the club in that time.

This is a mammoth challenge and the lads will be fully behind him. You can keep up with his progress on the shared links and he is also welcoming donations for a mental health charity which is a cause very close to the club.

Go well, Chaz.

Away from the football side of things, one of our Senior players, Charlie, is undertaking a 100km (62 miles!) run in July this year. Charlie started the season with us, casually scored 10 goals in 10 games and then stepped back to focus on his heavy training schedule, but still showed up most Saturdays to support the boys from the sidelines 👏

Anyone who has ever ran any long distance, will know the effort and dedication required in the training block, and that has been shown weekly by Charlie, covering multiple 30km+ runs on Saturday mornings, and casually taking on a 50km race last month in 'training' with still a number of weeks to go 🏃

Rooky is a quality footballer, a decent bloke and has decided to push himself to help others, by raising funds for The Mental Health Foundation, as in Charlie's words, no-one should have to face their struggles alone, something we all agree with heavily at North Tawton FC.

We appreciate times are tough at the moment, but anything you can spare towards this fundraising effort would be massively appreciated ♥️ This is a mammoth task he's undertaking, and everyone wishes him the best of luck. It was goals galore at Edgedown Park last weekend 💥

Last weekend, we hosted 3 games as the firsts finished their season off in style with a couple of very convincing 5-2 wins against Broadclyst and Uni.

The Ressies slipped to defeat to promotion-chasing Westexe and will now be hoping to end their season with some momentum with games against Priory and North Tawton still to come.

🔸🔹 Weekend Round-Up 🔹🔸

Broadclyst 3 - 3 Witheridge 1sts

Witheridge Res A - A North Tawton

A weekend with little to celebrate as the firsts battled to a scrappy 3-3 draw away at Broadclyst. But, bigger than any of that, it was a weekend where the reserves lost a top, young lad to a nasty leg break.

Liam is a local lad who has grown up in the village and has represented both sides admirably since turning 16. Now at 20 years old, Liam has secured himself as an instrumental part of the Reserves side and has even captained them on occasions this year.

Liam now faces not only a spell on the sidelines but a lengthy lay-off from work after he’s just moved into his own place with his long-term partner. Liam’s brother, Kieron, has set up a GoFundMe page to help support Liam financially throughout his period of uncertainty.

If you’re able to support Liam and his partner in any way, it would be hugely appreciated.

Liam’s family and all involved with the club would also like to pass on their thanks to North Tawton FC for their support during and after the incident.

We wish you a full and speedy recovery mate and we look forward to seeing you at Edgedown Park again soon 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼
