With an incredibly busy weekend of county golf coming up we’re getting some good luck wishes out early.

Our County Boys and County Seniors Champions, Ed Taylor of The Burstead Golf Club and Andy Duffin of Clacton-on-Sea Golf Club Ltd are making their way up to Woodhall Spa this morning for the England Golf Boys and Seniors County Champion of Champions events that start tomorrow.

Both have practice rounds this afternoon before Ed competes over 36 holes tomorrow and Andy has his 36 hole tournament split over Saturday and Sunday.

Good luck gents, go play well, do Ess*x proud and most important of all, have a great time at an incredible venue.

Congratulations go out to the John Day Trophy team of Woolston Manor Golf Club, our latest winners in a long run of finals.

Top Meadow put up a brave battle but Woolston Manor came with a mission and closed out some tight matches, with 7 of the 9 making it to the 17th & 18th holes.

Of the 7 tight matches, our winners collected 5.5 points which played a large part in the end result of 6.5 points to 2.5 points.

Congratulations to both teams and a great day was had by all.

Another day and another final, what a time to be part of Ess*x Golf.

The John Day Trophy Final is all set to take place at the home club of our 2025 winners Braintree Golf Club.

Having battled through five rounds, today’s finalists are Top Meadow Golf Club and Woolston Manor Golf Club.

Top Meadow overcame a tight semi-final against Langdon Hills and Woolston Manor defeated Upminster.

Both teams will be keen to lift the trophy and with 9 singles matches taking place, the first team to reach 5 points will claim the glory.

Big well done to Maybel Brooks who finished tied 7th in the England Golf Women’s Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa yesterday.

By the looks of the scoring for all competitors, the course set up and conditions would’ve been tough and for young Maybel to compete and finish just 2 shots off 3rd place is outstanding.

Fifty teams began the year hoping for Thornton Cup glory but only one team can be victorious come the end of the tournament.

Rather incredibly, Orsett have now won for a 5th consecutive year and a record twelfth time in the competitions history.

9.5 - 5.5 was the final scoreline which reflects a great Thorndon Park team who did all they could to stop the Orsett juggernaut.

Well played to all players today, there was some great golf on show and a huge thanks to Colne Valley for being wonderful hosts.

The morning foursomes are complete and reigning champions Orsett hold a narrow 3 - 2 lead at lunch.

Orsett’s lead pairing of Tommy Carr and Callum Newton tipped the score in Orsett’s favour, winning the opening match up the last with a courageous par from the trees.

With ten singles this afternoon, all results remain possible.

Good luck wishes also go out to Maybel Brooks who is representing Ess*x at the England Golf Women’s Champion of Champion’s tournament at Woodhall Spa today.

In winning the Women’s County Championship back in May, Maybel goes up against all the county champions from across the country.

We also have the Women’s Munro Foursomes Final taking place at Benton Hall Golf Club today where Stoke By Nayland take on Crondon Park.
