As part of Braintree District Council’s commitment to ensure that residents across the district have access to sport and leisure opportunities, Witham Leisure Centre has been specifically designed to provide a high quality leisure experience and offer a wide range of facilities and activities to suit the needs and interests of the local community. It features a six lane, 25 metre pool, learner pool with moveable floor, fitness suite, two dance studios, sauna and steam room and two squash courts.

With regular sessions in Witham Leisure Centre, Braintree Sports and Health Club, and Halstead Leisure Centre, Sporting Memories is perfect for anyone looking to take part in a local activity, make new friends, enjoy games and conversation, and feel part of their community. Designed to be age- and dementia-friendly, these sessions provide a supportive space where everyone is welcome.💜

⭐️88% of all child drownings occurred in the absence of adult supervision

⭐️84% of open water child drownings happen inland, in places such as rivers, lakes and canals

⭐️83% of all accidental drownings in 2024 were male!

⭐️71% of child drownings occurred between May and August

⭐️On average, 723 people drown in the UK and Ireland annually (2020-2024)
