Later in the day, the British Miler’s Club held their 3rd grand prix meeting of the season at the University of Birmingham track. Six of our younger athletes were competing and 4 of them achieved new personal bests in their respective distances. Imogen Ward was the first to compete in a women’s 800m race. Always in contention, Imogen surged past four others to take the lead with just under 200m to go pulling away down the finishing straight despite their best efforts to overhaul her. Another fine performance came from Harry Parker-McLain, again over 800m. A distant next to last at 500m, Harry blasted down the back straight overtaking rivals as he rounded the bend, before sprinting to the line and dipping for the win in the final stride. Both very exciting races bringing new personal bests. Isaac Leydon went under 3:50 for the 1500m for the first time and Jake Wilson took 6 seconds off his 5000m best.
