I've been eating in a slight deficit for a while now so it's time to up my calories to add some size ๐Ÿ”
if you're someone wanting to gain muscle then don't rush the process, the slower you gain weight the more likely it will be muscle ๐Ÿ’ช

This is just an example, but here's how you can push past "failure".

If you can't lift a weight anymore, this is often seen as training to failure and seen as working as hard as possible! This is just concentric failure and the least amount of muscle damage is caused in this part of an exercise.

In this example if you took skull crushers to failure you can then close grip press the same weight back up, as its an easier angle recruiting a bit of shoulders and chest. Then slowly bring the weight back down whilst still thinking push. After you can't control the negatives anymore go straight into a close grip press. The closer the dumbbells are to your shoulder the more triceps will be involved as you're bending from the elbow more. If that was too hard, bring the dumbells a little lower e.g middle of your chest.

Funk now has 62.5kg dumbbells! Managed 3 reps with no help first set. Second set didn't go so well as you can see ๐Ÿ˜‚ goal is to get up to 8 reps by Christmas ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’ช

I'm only 72kg at the moment so pretty happy managing to press 62.5kg in each hand!

Meal 2 of the day which was at 9:30am!

Massive congratulations to my client Ange on getting married last week! She worked hard over the last couple months to drop the 7lb she gained over lockdown. She looks amazing at 63 years young. Goes to show age is just a number and I don't think I've ever seen someone so happy ๐Ÿ˜Š

Started training Jocky Flood (on the left) with only 9 days to drop 4kg bodyweight to fight in one of the uks biggest shows.

He easily hit his weight today, we even cut our sessions out after only 5 days so he can go into his fight with more energy and not feeling beaten up from training.

I've given him some advice what to eat post weigh in to give him the energy for the win tomorrow!

It's been a whole year since I started trained Jen, including being in lock down when we didn't do anything. She's stronger, fitter, healthier and happier! Just finished my back session. Definitely need to work on my posing! Leaning back and brining my elbows further back would give me the appearance of a smaller waist, bigger back and arms. It's clear enough to me to see what I need to improve on though.

Currently I'm lean bulking, I'm in a slight calorie surplus to give myself enough calories to build muscle slowly whilst minimising the amount of fat I gain.

If you eat white bread you'll die!

Obviously you can eat bread, but if you're looking for optimal results, then focus on digestion, absorbtion and elimination! To get the most from our foods we need to be able to digest food, absorb it and p**p it out ๐Ÿ™ˆ everyone's different, some people can't drink milk ect so find what works for you! If you feel sluggish, bloated, not going to the toilet, chances are something is missing or doesn't agree with you.

For example too much oats really bloats me, if I wanted more calories I'd ad a banana, even more calories I'd add almond butter vs having more and more oats. Fats in almond butter would slow down the absorbtion but they are high in calories so don't add too much!

I always mix in protein powder so I'm not missing an opportunity to build muscle ๐Ÿ‘
