Double Winners at Southern Champs Weekend 🏆🏆

Friday practice we had rapid pace and was very happy with setup even though the track had new sections of tarmac which meant changing grip levels going through corners.

Saturday
Qualifying = P3 Got held up on my fast lap and Pole when Pole position was definitely on the cards

Pre Final = P3 ⬆️ P2

Final = P2 ↔️ P2

Overnight position for SC Plate P2

Sunday

Race in 3 out of 4 Heats

Heat 1 = P1 ⬇️ P2
Took a couple of laps to switch tyres on and lost the lead but driver in first place defended for the last couple of laps

Heat 3 = P16 ⬆️ P3
Good heat and plenty of places gained

Heat 4 = P25 ⬆️ P8
Good places made and would have made up more but a driver decided to defend heavily for P15 2 minutes into the race 🙄

Final = Pole 🏆

Due to incident’s through the day with red flags etc the meeting was running behind so several finals could not be run before the Motorsport UK permit ran out so the finals that could@not@be run were decided on starting grid position’s

This meant we took the Final Win and won the SC Plate for a second time
Not the way we would have liked to take the win as we had the pace and the consistency to win the final

Success at two tracks for GCR! Jack took the win at Clay Pigeon in preparation for the NKC Finale in a few weeks and Cheesy returned to the podium at Dunkeswell’s Southwest Championship 🍾🏆🥇

First time at this event and loved it!

Friday Qualified P15 in group, P29 overall

Heat 2 - P19 🛑 DNF - Got spun backwards on lap 1 after making up a few places and then got driven over damaging the radiator and steering column

Heat 3 - P20 ⬆️ P10 Decent heat with decent pace and vast improvement over the first heat.

Overnight - P32 overall

Saturday Qualified P5 in group and P9 overall with great pace and a great bit of team work with & Guy Cunnington & coming in 3rd, 4th & 5th

Heat 4 - P6 ↔️ P6
Lost a few places and then come back after a red flag

Heat 5 - P6 ⬇️ P9
Tough race and lost a few places but again came back to a decent haul of points

Overnight - P18 Overall

Sunday

Superheat B - P9 ⬆️ P8
Decent enough race and good enough points haul to get us into the Grand Prix Final

Grand Prix Final - P18 ⬇️ P24 (5sec Nose Penalty)
Got a drop nose on lap 1 with plenty of contact from all around.
Finished P21 on the road but dropped 3 places with the penalty.

A fantastic weekend for Guy in only his 3rd race in the last 12 months, finishing inside the top 3 in every race to score a brilliant BKC podium finish.

UKC Round 4 - Rowrah
Great to come back to this circuit for what would be only the third time and the first time in Seniors.
Great pace all weekend thanks to IGNITE Racing Engines 🔴⚫️ and setup and driver coaching from Guy Cunnington Racing 🔴🟢
Would have started higher up in the Final if we had not had the mechanical malfunction in the Superheat.
