When’s the best time to start Strong Girls’ Club?
A few people have asked recently when the best time is to start coming to Strong Girls’ Club — and the honest answer is: you can start whenever you’re ready.
Strong Girls’ Club is designed to help you build strength, confidence and technique over time. We do work in blocks of sessions, where we repeat the same key exercises so you can get familiar with them, improve your form, and see how you’re progressing. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for the beginning of a block to join in.
At the moment, our Monday lunchtime group have a couple of weeks left of their current block, while our Thursday early evening crew have just finished week 6 and, over the next couple of sessions, will be recapping everything we’ve done so far — so it’s actually a lovely time to join, revisit the basics, and get a feel for the class.
You’re very welcome to start at any point, and there’s absolutely no need to commit to a whole block (although, as always, consistency is key!) Each session is taught with guidance and reminders, so you won’t be expected to magically know what you’re doing just because other people have been coming for a while.
That said, if you like the idea of starting at a neat “beginning point,” our next block starter sessions will be:
Thursday 2nd July (5:20pm)
Monday 6th July (12:30pm)
These sessions are perfect if you’re new, returning after a break, or just fancy getting into a rhythm with the next phase of the class.
But please don’t feel you have to wait. There is no perfect starting point, no dramatic “before and after” moment required, and no expectation that you arrive already strong. That’s rather the point! We work with a variety of equipment, but our main focus is kettlebells — and with options available from just 2kg upwards, there’s no expectation that you arrive lifting heavy. We all started somewhere, and the aim is to build strength gradually, safely and confidently from wherever you are now.
We also use optional tracker sheets, so you can record which weight you used for each exercise and how easy or difficult it felt week by week. This helps you see your progress more clearly, and also helps you know when it might be time to progress, stay where you are, or even regress slightly if a heavier weight is affecting your form. We repeat exercises for a reason — not to make things boring, but to help you feel more confident. Strength training works best when you get the chance to practise, refine and build gradually.
So if you’ve been thinking about trying it, consider this your nudge. You can start now, you can start at the next block, or you can start on the random Monday or Thursday when you finally decide, “Right, I’m doing this.”
We’ll be very happy to see you whenever you walk through the door. Don't forget to reserve your spot in advance at enjoydancefitness.co.uk
