Have you had ankle sprains, big falls, concussions, whiplash?

Do not neglect your injuries. The brain learns to protect the area even if we think it has all settled, and the initial pain had gone away.

This protective reflex forms new, sub-optimal, patterns of movement and new tension areas, which can only come to light years later.

We think that we stiffen up with age, but it is life's knocks that has the profound impact.

I do post-injury and post-surgery rehabilitation. If you have had a fair share of those, have these checked out. We can restore and optimise function and you might be surprised just how much freedom of movement we get, however long ago this might have been.

Hello everyone,

Exciting news -

The newest Monday class dedicated to the strength and health of hips and pelvic floors, called "Hypopressives for Pelvic Floor Health" is almost full so I added another one on Friday.

These are held at the Corfe Mullen Wellness Garden studio in central CM on Mondays at midday (3 spaces) and Fridays at 10am (1 space left).

Hypopressives are a system of breathing techniques and postural exercises that reduce pressure in the abdominal/pelvic area to automatically engage and strengthen deep core muscles, including the pelvic floor.

We also work on spine and hip mobility, so if you have tight hips, a stiff neck, and limited rotation in your ribs, as well as pelvic floor symptoms, this might all be related.

Introductory price £10, part of a block of 6 sessions.

A trial class is available.

Please message me to book or ask any questions.

Spaces are limited to just 4 people so you can be assured of individual attention.

My January blog post talks about pelvic floor health - things like prolapses, heaviness, and their connection to hernias (hint - yes, all connected, and breathing issues are the common factor in all).

And - what we can do about it, apart from a generic Pilates class... yes, a lot, actually.

Hypopressives breathing and posture practices might just be the answer for you, instead of boring and ineffective Kegel squeezes that do not take the whole body into consideration.

And yes, Kegels can also be manifestly bad for some of us where there is already excess tension.

Read more here:
https://www.move-beyond.co.uk/post/hypopressives-pelvic-floors-and-core-health

And reach out to me if you would like a further chat about pelvic floors.

Hypopressives classes are scheduled for :

- Fridays 10am - just 1 place left

and

- Mondays 12pm - sign up to this new class! 3 places remain.

These take place in the Corfe Mullen Wellness Garden Studio.

Beating January blues... yes please! Let's face it - we need all the cheer we can get with this awful weather.

Here are my top focus areas this month:

1. Learn something new - I am completing a course on breath-led brain activation - cool breathing drills to improve the way we MOVE. People who come to my classes have already started seeing how we work these techniques into our programme.

Interested to find out more? Reach out and we can chat further.

2. Open a new class: Hypopressives for Pelvic floor health.

Hypopressives are a system of breathing techniques and postural exercises that reduce pressure in the abdominal/pelvic area to automatically engage and strengthen deep core muscles, including the pelvic floor.

Spoiler alert: this class is not just Hypopressives, but the overall health of hips, ribs, and pelvic floor. It is all connected.

There are only 2 places left, so if you are interested to join us at this stage, I would love to hear from you.

3. Play guitar. OK, this is just me... and my cat puts up with it, I am not concert-ready yet. But it gives me deep joy to occasionally make some decent sounds.

What is your go-to for cold wet January days?

A client came to me for NeuroKinetic therapy (NKT) complaining of shoulder restriction in lifting their arm up and to the side of the body.

It was a recommendation from the GP that NKT is used - which made my day, as currently, not that many UK doctors know of NKT!

My client has worked with their personal trainer and chiropractor to solve their issue, unsuccessfully.

Reviewing the history, there were discomfort and movement concerns all the way down one side of the body, which is always interesting and notable.

Also, my client's reflexes were overly strong, all muscles tested strong and could not let go as needed - the whole nervous system was on high alert.

Their breathing was tense and stressed, and up in the neck and upper chest.

There were no known injuries the client initially thought about.

I started suspecting a forgotten injury on the affected side, which my client then remembered... a head impact in childhood!

As soon as I treated that site of impact... breathing calmed down, and arm movements improved immediately. My client reflexes normalised and stopped being overly "held". The body started to be able to relax.

I then noticed that my client's chest muscles were now testing weak. Previously they were "strong" and unable to relax, but it was a false reading as the whole body was in a very mobilised state.

I worked to rebalance the chest muscles - one needed stretching, the other activating - and shoulder movements became even better.

Happy client, visibly more relaxed in their body, and with freer arm movements.

More work to be done, but for now - practice calmer breathing, and do some chest stretches and opposide side activations will be the homework.

In this situation more exercise, more stretches of the tight side, or chiropractic work on one shoulder would not have solved the issue.

The power of NKT to the rescue. Love my work.

Drop me a message if you would like to find out more about NKT.

I find it incredibly frustrating that one can pay for business reviews online. On G*ogle, on this platform, etc. Companies actually email you to offer these services to create f*ke reviews.

This makes the job of honest business owners so very hard in comparison, however, I hope that un-authentic reviews are possible to spot. It is such a dishonest practice.

Rest assured, there are no f*ke reviews that I have. No need for bots to create false noise and narrative.

I let my work and the results speak for themselves, and if you are happy to leave me a comment to that effect, I truly appreciate it.

The basic Pilates principles show us that this is very much a mind-body discipline when done right.

Here are the key focus areas:

⭐ Breath: Breathing connects your mind and body, helping you engage your core muscles effectively

⭐ Concentration: Pay attention to your movements and form to fine-tune your technique and remain mindful

⭐ Centering: Movements start from your core, where our stability and strength comes from

⭐ Control: Move with control instead, not speed, to maintain proper form

⭐ Precision: Focus on accuracy in your exercises, not the number of repetitions

⭐ Flow: Keep movements smooth and continuous

These principles apply to Pilates mat and reformer alike - same approach, breath, precision, flow.

Would you like to try a Pilates reformer class with me in January 2026? Reach out to inquire.

I would like to sincerely wish all my wonderful clients and followers a lovely festive break, a very merry Christmas and a healthy year ahead. As we look ahead to 2026, I hope your 2025 has been a positive one.

This year has been great as I have been able to move to a new location, open the Garden Studio in Corfe Mullen, establish regular Pilates mat and reformer sessions, and commence my hypnotherapy and emotional work practice.

What’s been your greatest discovery and learning this year to date?

My biggest learning continues to be the key role that the mind-body connection plays in our health. And the most impactful discovery is finding a new way of rapidly reducing the brunt of past injuries on the nervous system and body tension patterns.

This is tremendously exciting and as I move into 2026, I will be using this even more with my ongoing work with my clients here in Corfe Mullen and online.

Have a fabulous, happy, healthly and fulfilling year ahead full of joyful movement and peace and clarity of mind.

To your health,
Kaye
