Bourbon is a 2011 Irish Sport Horse gelding and Tara is a 1986 British Human, and their lives merged in July 2020. Bourbon was formerly used for hunting in Ireland and although previously a horse owner since a young age, Tara had been horse-less for five years. The aim was to slowly learn from one another, enjoying long hacks, schooling and jumping, with a view to competing in show jumping, dressa
ge and eventing (brave pants allowing), with the odd fun ride thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately some underlying issues slowly started to present themselves, eventually resulting in a kissing spine diagnosis in March 2021 with a spinal operation on poor Bourbon in April 2021. Since then, Tara has been rehabbing Bourbon, slowly bringing him back into work - the first few months slowly building up groundwork and then after getting the all clear to resume ridden work has been back in the saddle since August 2021.
