LOVE IT… WE ARE BACK! ⚽️🔥

A new season, a new chapter and a fresh start for our boys with Vulcan FC.
First of all, a massive thank you to Aaron and everyone at the club. From the moment we arrived, we have been welcomed and made to feel completely at home. The home pitches and the whole set-up are genuinely second to none. 🤝
After a long summer with not much more than the World Cup to give us our football fix, everyone was absolutely buzzing to be back.
This is the boys’ first season officially classed as competitive football. Results recorded. League tables on show. Every game now means something.
There will not be an easy Saturday in the WJFL Premiership, but these boys have not arrived here by chance. They have worked incredibly hard over the last couple of seasons to earn the opportunity to test themselves at this level.

From the first whistle, we saw far more than effort.
We saw intelligence.
The boys recognised when to press, when to recover and when to stay patient. The nearest player engaged the ball, the players behind provided cover and the opposite side tucked in to protect the pitch.
When we regained possession, the first thought was forward. If the forward pass was not available, we kept the ball, changed the angle and started again.
That is the football we have been working towards.
Caleb and Luca put us 2-0 ahead, both getting the reward for the problems they caused throughout the game.
Caleb occupied the central defenders, attacked the space around the box and gave us a real focal point. Luca constantly found pockets, moved intelligently around the front line and carried a threat whenever he received the ball facing forward.
Then came a huge moment from Max.
A penalty against us, but Max stayed composed, made himself big and produced a brilliant save. Goalkeepers can completely change the feeling of a game in one moment, and that was his moment. 🧤
Dan decided to turn up as prime Sergio Ramos.
Front-foot defending, stepping in to intercept, dominant in his duels and completely committed to protecting the space behind him. He did not just win the ball either. He had the confidence to step out and help start our attacks.
George was powerful and relentless, competing for everything and giving us strength on both sides of the ball.
William read danger brilliantly, covered the spaces around his teammates and showed real composure whenever we needed to play our way out.
Louie gave us balance, picked up second balls, made himself available under pressure and helped connect the team from back to front.
The strength of those boys was not just in their individual performances. They defended together, communicated and protected one another.
Owen was our Road Runner out wide. High speed, direct running and constantly attacking the space behind. Every time he accelerated, the opposition were forced to turn and run towards their own goal.
Harry caused danger all game. He led the line, pressed from the front, occupied defenders, ran the channels and gave us an option whenever we needed to play forward.
Daniel made his debut and looked completely at home. He competed, showed for the ball, made good decisions and never hid from the game. A really strong first performance in a new team.
Seeing the work from training appear on the pitch under real match pressure is an overwhelming emotion for me.
The scanning. The movement. The covering positions. The reactions when possession changed. The bravery to receive the ball and the understanding of when to play forward and when to keep it.
It showed that the boys are not just following instructions anymore.
They are beginning to understand the game for themselves.
We know how difficult this season will be and nobody is getting carried away after one game. But we have a group of hardworking, intelligent boys who have earned their place and are already hungry for more.
