Canny morning at the office today
A win over at Seaham for the boys 5-4
Not the best of games end to end and could’ve went either way.
We finished up heading to 1/2 time with a 2-1 lead courtesy of 2 goals from Jimmy.
The second 1/2 started up pretty much the same with another goal this time Riley M taking on the keeper and tapping it home
We then conceded 2 in succession now standing at 3-3, we got the boys revved up again and we scored another after switching sonny to the forward role, then after conceding again bringing it to 4-4 we finished off with another from Jimmy, now with his hatrick and getting us the win at 5-4 🙌🏻🙌🏻
An injury setback meant we had to bring Kai off today but he was adamant he was going back on, what a guy 😂👍🏻 (hope he’s ok, looked nasty)
Mom today goes to our new signing Riley Mansfield, a very impressive performance from him with multiple asssists and a goal in the bag too 👏🏻👏🏻

Another tough one for the boys today having to start the game with only 10 men 🤦🏼‍♂️
We can write the first 1/2 off as we conceded 5 goals in quick succession, the boys didn’t let this get to them and we came out in the second half fighting with 2 goals of our own.
A great flick on from Zach out on the right lead to a strikers finish off Jimmy, then a cracking overlap from Archie and sonny with sonny making the run and blasting it home 🙌🏻
Well done to the boys today they have shown resilience and fight in every position, proud of them all 👏🏻
Mom today goes to Alfie who had to don the captains band with the general away.
Alfie took the task on with pride and commanded his team from the off, voiced all game and was everywhere on the field so 👏🏻👏🏻

Match Report, League Game, 10/11/24, Durham Colts 7 Willington 0. A really difficult morning for the lads despite a fairly decent start to the game for them. Willo conceded 2 goals in quick succession in similar fashion, with Durham playing the ball behind the Willo defence providing simple opportunities for their forwards. 2-0 at HT and the pattern remained into the 2nd half with 5 more goals conceded. It was a really frustrating experience the lads. Despite this there were several who didn't down tools and worked really hard for the team throughout, well done to them with Jack Hutchinson taking MoM. Jack's been excellent all season in both games and training and his attitude is a great examples for others to follow. 👏👏

Match report 26-10-24 bs Crawcrook
Lost 5-3
A very competitive game for the first 1/2 some excellent play from the boys moving the ball about freely and having several early chances making us more than marginally the better side on the field 👍🏻
We always looked a threat going forward and eventually took the lead with great team goal which was deemed offside by the “linesman”😂
After a goal kick we lost sonny for 5 mins due to a slip and a bit of a pull to his calf, we got him back in having to swap him and Dylan from forward to centre 1/2, this turned out a good tactical decision where sonny 1-1 with the keeper scored and got us ahead.
Crawcrook then equalised, not flagged off by the linesman this time 🤔 😂
We then went behind after losing Kai to an unspecified sin bin for 10 mins, having only ten on the pitch we quickly went down 3-1.
Then in a surprising decision that went our way Jimmy scored a cracking free kick from the edge of the 18
Quickly followed by a scrambler in the box from Riley making us again level 3-3
We then gave away a penalty, questionably where Isaac got gloves to it but unfortunately it hit the back of the net 4-3
We then lost mason to a sending off after a free kick decision so going back down to 10 where we quickly conceded again.
Some unfair decisions went against us today to be honest but overall a great performance from our lads who should be proud.
Mom today goes to sonny who had a fantastic stint as centre 1/2 then after injury moved up top and got us off the mark 👏🏻👏🏻 onto the next we go

Well done to Olly for making it through 2 trials and getting a spot on the Schools District Team, which is no easy feat. Well deserved after playing really well throughout both trials and gaining selection against really strong opposition 👏👏👏

Oliver was selected to go for trials based off his excellent performances for the school football team last season.

He made it past the first set of trials to the final trial which was last Friday.

He got the great news that he had been selected for the squad earlier this week.

The squad is made up from 13 schools in the Bishop Auckland Schools Football League.

Well done Olly!

Match Report, League Game, 12/10/24, Willington 2 - Felling 5. As the saying goes, definitely a game of two halves today! Felling are a team well known to us and are a tough and competitive group who were never going to come and make the game easy and in the 1st half they had too much for us. Especially in Midfield areas the lads were 2nd to the ball and not physical enough in their play and when out of possession. Isaac and the back 3 of Jacob, Alfie and Sonny (and later Zach) had their work cut out but rolled their sleeves up. At half time the lads were 4 nil down and looking a bit sorry for themselves. Somewhat of a tough learning experience,but credit to Felling. At half time we asked the lads for an honest appraisal of each other and what they could do better and they found the right answers, which was great to hear. Into the 2nd half and Willo conceded very early on but did not let their heads drop and grafted their way back into the game, applying themselves much better in the tackle. The result was some excellent play as they began to use the ball and peg Felling back. The lads won a corner after Olly won the ball with a strong challenge and set Jimmy away. This was bundled in by Sonny at the far post. A 2nd goal followed for Jimmy who finished well after some great play from Alfie to first win the ball and then send Jim through on goal. The game ended 5-2 to Felling. They showed great belief in themselves and each other after a testing 1st half and we're really pleased at Whites HQ with their response. MoM went to Isaac for his safe hands throughout, but especially in the 1st half. Well done to them all for a great 2nd half and hopefully they take that belief and confidence forwards into the rest of the season 👏👏👏
