💪🤝 WHY DO WE TRAIN YOUR GRIP? IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK!

You might have noticed that during our semi-private sessions, we don’t just train the big muscles. We also spend time working on something that often gets overlooked…

Your grip. ✊

Why?

Because grip strength isn't just about being able to squeeze something really hard.

A strong grip can help you:

🏋️ Lift weights more effectively — Your hands are often the connection between you and the equipment.

💪 Build stronger pulling movements — Rows, deadlifts, carries and many other exercises rely on your ability to hold on.

🧰 Make everyday tasks easier — Carrying shopping, opening jars, moving furniture or picking things up all require grip.

🧠 Challenge your whole body — Exercises such as farmer's carries don't just test your hands. They challenge your forearms, shoulders, core and legs too.

👴 Maintain strength as you get older — Keeping your hands and grip strong is part of maintaining independence and physical capability.

And there's another reason I like training grip in our semi-private sessions…

It makes you feel strong. 🔥

There's something very satisfying about picking up a heavy weight, carrying it confidently and knowing that your hands aren't going to give up before the rest of your body.

For busy professionals in their 30s, 40s and beyond, fitness isn't just about looking good.

It's about being strong, capable and confident in everyday life.

So next time you see us carrying heavy weights around the studio… 👀

You'll know there's a reason behind it! 😏💪

🌸💪 MENOPAUSE DOESN’T MEAN STOPPING — IT MEANS ADAPTING!

Menopause can bring a whole range of changes — hot flushes, disrupted sleep, mood changes, reduced energy, changes in body composition and a feeling that your body isn’t quite responding the way it used to. 🌡️😴

But movement and strength training can be a powerful part of managing this new chapter. 💪✨

🏋️ Strength training can help maintain muscle and support bone health.

❤️ Cardiovascular exercise can support heart health and overall fitness.

🧘‍♀️ Mobility and movement can help you stay active, capable and confident.

😴 And regular physical activity can also contribute to better sleep and overall wellbeing.

The important thing is that you don't need to train harder just because your body is changing.

You may simply need to train smarter.

Your recovery, energy levels, stress, sleep and individual needs all matter. A good training programme should adapt to you — not the other way around. 🙌

And remember, menopause isn't something you have to simply "put up with". If symptoms are affecting your daily life, speak to your GP or another qualified healthcare professional about the options available to you.

Fitness isn't about trying to turn back the clock.

It's about becoming stronger, healthier and more confident in the body you have today. 🌸💪

🌱💪 WHAT ACTUALLY PREDICTS YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE AFTER 50?

Most people think the key to ageing well is simply avoiding illness.

But quality of life isn't just about how many years you live. It's about how well you can live those years.

And some of the biggest predictors of staying independent and active later in life are things you can start working on today.

🏋️ Strength
Can you lift, carry, climb stairs and get up from the floor? Maintaining muscle and strength is crucial for staying capable and independent.

⚖️ Balance
Good balance becomes increasingly important as we age. Training it before you need it is far better than waiting until you have a problem.

🚶 Mobility & movement
Being able to walk comfortably, squat, reach, rotate and move freely helps you keep doing the things you enjoy.

❤️ Cardiovascular fitness
A healthy heart and lungs give you the stamina to travel, walk, play with your grandchildren, enjoy hobbies and stay active.

🧠 Mental wellbeing & social connection
Exercise isn't only about muscles. Staying active can support your mood, confidence and ability to participate in life.

The important thing is that none of this starts at 50.

The habits you build in your 30s and 40s can help determine how capable you are in your 50s, 60s and beyond.

You don't train simply to look good in the mirror.

You train so that one day, you can still carry your own shopping, climb the stairs, get off the floor, travel, play with your kids or grandkids and enjoy your independence. ❤️

Don't just add years to your life.

Add life to your years. 💪

💪🧔 MEN & MUSCLE LOSS AFTER 30: HOW DO YOU SLOW IT DOWN?

Turning 30 doesn't mean your muscles suddenly disappear—but as we get older, maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important.

The good news? You can do a lot to slow the process down.

🏋️‍♂️ Strength train regularly
Your muscles need a reason to stay strong. Progressive resistance training—squats, deadlifts, presses, rows and other compound movements—helps maintain and build muscle.

🥩 Eat enough protein
Protein provides the building blocks your muscles need to repair and grow. Include a good source of protein in each meal rather than trying to get it all at once.

😴 Don't underestimate sleep
Training provides the stimulus, but recovery is when your body adapts. Consistently poor sleep can make it harder to recover and perform.

🚶‍♂️ Stay active outside the gym
Walking, cycling, climbing stairs and simply moving more throughout the day all contribute to keeping your body capable.

🍺 Watch your lifestyle
Excessive alcohol, poor nutrition and consistently high stress can make it harder to maintain healthy habits and recover from training.

📈 Keep challenging yourself
You don't need to lift enormous weights. But if your workouts never progress, your body has less reason to adapt. Gradually increase weight, repetitions, control or difficulty.

And remember: muscle isn't just about looking bigger.

It's about strength, mobility, independence, metabolism and being able to enjoy an active life as you get older.

Your 30s and 40s aren't the time to slow down.

They're the time to start training for the 50s, 60s and beyond. 💪

🎨🏺 TRYING SOMETHING NEW… AND DISCOVERING I’M NOT AS GOOD AS I REMEMBER! 😂

I decided to try something completely different and went pottery painting! 🎨

I used to do a bit of painting when I was younger, so I thought, “How hard can it be?” 😎

Well… turns out it’s a LOT harder than I remembered! 😂

Getting the shapes right, choosing the colours, trying to make everything look intentional… suddenly I realised that painting a plate is a serious business! 😅

But that’s exactly why I enjoyed it.

Sometimes, as adults, we get so caught up in work, responsibilities, routines and trying to be good at everything that we forget what it feels like to be a complete beginner.

No pressure.
No expectations.
Just trying something new and enjoying the process. 🙌

And yes… I actually finished it! 💪😂

So, what do you think?

And make sure you notice the signature… 👀✍️

You never know… this plate might be worth a fortune one day! 😂💰

Remember the name: Umberto Massimino. 😉

🐞🔥 READY TO MAKE YOUR DEAD BUG A LITTLE HARDER?

The dead bug is one of my favourite core exercises because it teaches you to control your limbs while keeping your trunk stable.

But once you've mastered the basic version, how do you make it more challenging without simply doing endless repetitions?

👉 Add a resistance band around your feet!

By placing a resistance band around your feet and maintaining tension as you extend your legs, you introduce an extra challenge for your core and hip muscles.

Here's what to focus on:

🧱 Keep your lower back controlled – Don't let your back arch excessively as your legs move.

🎯 Move slowly – The slower and more controlled the movement, the harder your core has to work.

🦵 Maintain band tension – Don't let the band go slack. Keep pushing gently against it throughout the movement.

💨 Control your breathing – Exhale as you extend and avoid holding your breath.

💪 Quality over quantity – A few controlled repetitions are much more valuable than rushing through 20!

Why add the band?

It can increase the demand on your core, hip flexors and stabilising muscles, while making you concentrate even more on controlling your pelvis and trunk.

And remember, a stronger core isn't just about having visible abs.

It's about creating a stable base for squats, deadlifts, presses, running and everyday movement.

If you've mastered the standard dead bug, give this variation a try—but make sure you can control the basic movement first.

👥💪 GROUP TRAINING FOR EVERY LEVEL — YES, INCLUDING BEGINNERS!

One of the biggest misconceptions about group training is that you need to be fit before you join.

You don't. 🙌

My group sessions are designed for different abilities, so whether you're completely new to exercise, getting back into training, or already experienced in the gym, there's a place for you.

🏋️‍♀️ Beginner? I'll show you the exercises, help you learn the correct technique and build your confidence step by step.

💪 Already training? I'll challenge you appropriately and help you keep progressing.

🔄 Coming back after a break? We'll work at a level that suits where you are now—not where you think you should be.

The beauty of training in a small group is that everyone can work towards their own goals while enjoying the motivation and energy of training with others.

And because I coach the sessions personally, you're not simply left to figure things out for yourself.

No need to compare yourself to anyone else.

No need to be the strongest person in the room.

You just need to turn up and be ready to work. 🔥

Whether your goal is to get stronger, lose weight, improve your fitness, move better or simply feel healthier, we can work towards it together.

Your starting point doesn't matter.

Your willingness to start does. ❤️

📩 If you've been thinking about joining but aren't sure whether you're fit enough, send me a message. Let's have a chat.
