We are a small bowls club with a darts team and a pool team based in Greenacres Park.

Tonight we had the honour of hosting the end of season League Champions v Rest of the League game at the Park.

Despite the weather there was high spirits and great bowling, the game was called off after 7 ends due to a downpour. Well done to Aspatria for taking the win tonight 42 shots to 27.

And, finally to the league secretary Mike for making sure the whole night went smoothly.

We would like to congratulate Aspatria for their League win, it was another close season with only a couple points between the top 3 going into the last game. We were hoping to pip you at the final hurdle but you held on well again.

As the season draws to a close we will all be looking forward to get back to it in the new year and push for that elusive league win.

Reminder our green closing day is on Saturday 19th September from 1pm, all welcome to pop down support the club with the annual Perkins Pairs Competition being played followed by entertainment from Phil Mac.

🏆 WORLD MARYPORT OPEN WINNERS! 🏆

A massive congratulations to David Corrigan & Ryan Baxter, who won the World Maryport Open today! 👏🔥

The boys battled through some tough games against Edna from Maryport & Julie Garland, but came out on top! 💪

🎯 David’s drawing game was absolutely on point, leaving Baxter with very little to do throughout the day 😂👏

The victory also means David Corrigan has now QUALIFIED to play in Tenerife this January! 🇪🇸☀️🌴

Rumours are already circulating that David is considering handing his notice in at the Wigton factory and turning professional after today’s performance… 😂🎳💰

A huge achievement for the pair! 🏆

Saturday we held our Annual Top 5 competition kindly sponsored by Perkins Travel, DA Harrison & A Lapping.

There were some great games played throughout the day with some close competition to make the Final places. But it was the entries from Wigton Parks Lewis Baxter and Aspatria bowling club Mark Irwin who made it to the Final. In a closely contested game, winning by just 1 shot it was the Baxter 5 which were crowned the winners for 2026. Well done Lewis, Ryan, David, Keanan and the honorary Baxter Josh Minto.

Huge well done to all the participating players for providing great entertainment all day.

Thank you to all who helped setup and put away, to Paul and Stephen for arranging and getting the entries. Thanks go to Rebecca for doing the bar keeping everyone hydrated and also to Hazel and the ladies from The Lion and Lamb for providing the fantastic catering.

As a small club all the help we recieve from our club volunteers goes hugely appreciated, we couldn't run without you.

We now look forward to our next competition which will be the D Studholm Pairs on Sunday 30th August, all entry enquiries should be directed to Paul Coulthard or Stephen Farish.
