Slight switch up, I’ve signed up for the Dubai marathon.

Still on course for the 70.3 in Oman in 5 weeks. I just have to experiment slightly with the approach to accommodate more running (so less cycling) before the marathon which will be in 3 weeks. And to go hard on recovery to ensure I turn up ready for the 70.3 in Oman.

Bike = having a good time. Running = also having a good time. Swim = still slow (but having a good time)

11 weeks out before Oman 70.3.

Here’s how my training went balancing strength and triathlon:

M: Full Body 1 & Open Swim 30min
T: Full Body 2 & WattBike 60min
W: Run 60min
T: Open Swim 50mins & Upper Body
F: WattBike 50min
S: Brick 85min

Body is feeling fresh. Plus I have new goggles so life is good. Sunday I’ll either do a recovery run or open swim.

12 weeks starts now until my 70.3 in Oman. The aims:
🎯 suck less at swimming (see video)
🎯 stronger legs for the hills when cycling

Also,
🎯 practice tighter transitions
🎯 train with better/ appropriate nutrition

This was my last week of unstructured training (post 70.3) before 12 weeks of structured training again.

The main focusses for the next 12 weeks would be to 1. get a lot better at swimming (surely new goggles make me faster!?), 2. cycling efficiency and power (improve my set up and get stronger legs for the hills) and 3. balance my training with 3 sessions in the gym weekly.

Time to get the sneaks back on as it’s coming into 12 weeks before a 70.3 in Oman. My training this week is still fairly unstructured (anticipated). With 2 runs, 2-3 full body sessions and an FTP test on the WattBike.

18/11/2025

So after 2 weeks of unstructured training (planned) it’s now time to get back into action. So dusting off the bike and checking I can still swim would be a helpful start.

Coming into this weekend it’ll be 12 weeks before I begin structured training for a 70.3 in Oman, this time with a focus on strength in the gym and swimming. 🏊

So the weekends finally here for my 70.3 this Sunday. So the final touches of a couple of runs, a cycle and an open water swim (and just a little panic about the swim as usual). Now to eat some bread.

Arrived in Turkey ahead of the 70.3 this Sunday. Bike and myself near enough in 1 piece. Now onto the final preparations.
