As a Department for Transport Aviation Ambassador, I’m passionate about helping young people discover that aviation is much bigger than just pilots and cabin crew. There are careers in safety, regulation, drones, engineering, accessibility, innovation, airport operations, commercial aviation and future technologies.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority has launched a virtual work experience programme through Springpod: “Lift Off – with the Civil Aviation Authority.”

It is open to anyone aged 13+, includes a certificate of completion, and explores areas such as:

✈️ Aviation, aerospace and the role of the CAA
🛡️ Safety, regulation and aviation law
🛫 General and commercial aviation
🚁 Drones and future technologies
♿ Airport accessibility, innovation and sustainability
📈 Employability skills and career pathways

The programme runs from 27 June 2026 to 31 December 2026 and is a great opportunity for young people, parents, schools and colleges to explore what aviation can offer. 

At The Immersive Hub, and through FlightDeck PC, I’m working to bring aviation careers to life through hands-on, immersive experiences — helping learners connect online opportunities like this with real-world inspiration.

This week I had the incredible opportunity to visit London Luton Airport as part of my role as a Department for Transport Aviation Ambassador.

Alongside fellow Ambassador David Gardner, I spent time with the Airport Fire & Rescue Service, learning how they respond to real aviation emergencies.

✈️ Seeing first-hand how aviation professionals keep passengers safe every day
