Everyone at The Brick Community Stadium is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Sir William John Boston.

Billy was more than a sporting icon. He was part of the story of Wigan. His name has been woven into the fabric of this town for generations, and his legacy will live on through the people who watched him play, the stories that have been passed down, and the generations who have grown up knowing the name Billy Boston.

Our thoughts are with Sir Billy’s family, friends, our friends at Wigan Warriors, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Sir Billy Boston.

Today we mourn the loss of a true sporting icon, Sir Billy Boston, who has passed away surrounded by his family.

Rugby League’s first knight, a Wigan legend, and "Everybody's Hero," his legacy on and off the field will endure for eternity.

Rest in peace, Sir Billy. 🍒⚪️
