Judo "The Gentle Way" was devised by Jigaro Kano in 1882 and by the end of the century had reached Britain. In 1951 Sensei Pat Biggy formed the Rakukan (Sly Fox) Judo Club in Wigan and the club is now over 70 years old. Sensei Andy Clayton (6th Dan), having taken over from Sensei Pat Biggy had expanded the club and had taken Judo into many schools within the area. A great number of students have b

enefitted over the years from his experience and training. The club is now run by John Leahy (4th Dan), David Cannon (2nd Dan) and Robert Jordan (2nd Dan)

The main Dojo is situated a mile from Wigan town center and new members are always welcome. It is a nonprofit making organization and any funds received are reinvested in the club for the benefit of all the members.
