FT| Maroons 12-4 Woolston Rovers

On Sunday, our lads returned to winning ways with a strong team performance, scoring some really well worked tries against a determined Woolston side.

Joe was a real force in attack, filling in brilliantly at fullback following Matthew’s injury and causing problems whenever he carried the ball.

Through the middle, Harrison Kennedy and Yavuz Alkamaz caused headaches from minute one, making plenty of tough yards and putting in some huge tackles.

Finn Brightcliffe was outstanding defensively at half-back, tackling everything that came his way, while Josh Unsworth delivered yet another Player of the Match performance with another excellent display.

A really positive performance from the lads and a great way to get back to winning ways.

🟤 Josh Unsworth – Opposition’s POTM
Tackled absolutely everything and was arguably the best player on the field. Josh also had a really strong go forward game and put in a brilliant all round performance.

🟤 Joey Hurst – Top Tackler
An outstanding defensive effort from our half back. Joey tackled everything that came his way and didn’t take a backwards step all game.

🟤 Harrison Cartwright- Coaches POTM
Great go forward throughout the game, making some brilliant breaks and causing the opposition plenty of problems. Capped off his performance with a top try.

🟤 Bobby Mann- Coaches POTM
Outstanding in defence, getting involved in some really tough collisions and standing up brilliantly. Bobby also got his reward at the other end with a well taken try.

It’s defeat for our lads today. We simply weren’t at the races, but full credit must go to the opposition, who battled hard and competed for every minute.

Away from the rugby field, Tom Barton has been representing his sailing club with distinction, winning the overall Cadet Week Regatta after a week of outstanding performances. His success has earned him the opportunity to compete against older sailors at Kippford Week. A fantastic achievement....we're all incredibly proud of you. Good luck next week!
